To all New england brides out there (and some others, maybe Chicago??) -

Did any of you ever go to the Filenes Basement Boston Bridal sale? I know brides start waiting in the lines to go in very early in the morning and girls book hotel rooms and everything for the chance of getting desiner gowns for about $2-300. I was wandering if anyone actually purchased their dress there. The sale is coming up on 2/18 and I didn't know if it was worth going to. I might just swing by on my lunch break, but I don't know if I could handle the maddness!!

I went this past summer with my mom. The trick is to get there a little later in the morning, like 10/11ish. By that point ppl have piles of potential dresses they have grabbed, are trying them on, swapping, and DISCARDING. It's fun to see everyone trying on stuff. I was not going to get a dress (as I am not engaged yet but DBF and I have been together for quite awhile and the time is coming soon ..according to him, i'm just waiting for the surprise..this disney trip perhaps..??) Anyway....I'm digressing. So I was not seriously looking and this girl a little taller than i with a bit bigger bust (it finally pays off that i am small chested) was holding a dress that just caught my eye..ivory with an icicle design down the front, strapless. So I just asked if/when she was done with it if I could try it on (she had a lot of dresses in her pile)and the thing is she looked at me and said, "it'll fit you well, but i can't get into it." so i tried it on and her whole family was looking at me (very awkward) and they loved it and i loved it (was surprised i could go strapless but it goes to show you what you think will look good and what works might be two different things) and got it (275.00..originally like 2000+ according to the designer's website)!! See at this point in the day things are kind of winding down and you can be more relaxed about everything..also go in with the attitude you are just "browsing" and finally, be really nice, so many ppl there are being rude that if you kindly ask someone and smile they will be so grateful and will more likely be generous. Because, really, when it comes down to it everyone does want the best for each other.
So go during your lunch break..and good luck (post if you find something!!) :thumbsup2

What did you wear for clothes to try on the dresses?

I know a lot of girls had spandex on the last time I saw this (I was just browsing the store a few yrs ago and never imagined that it would be my turn soon :yay: )

It was summer so shorts and a t-shirt. I would definitely try to have someone with you to hold your things (you'll be in layers) but underneath wear a camisole and maybe running shorts. I just slid my shorts off once i put the dress over my head. You'll see girls walking around in their bras sometimes..it's a very "open" experience, ha ha.
