First of all, i want to say Tikiman's website is the best! I learned so much in the last hour reading it than I have anywhere else. Great job!

I like the location of the Fiji house and it seems pleasant and nice there, especially looks so for a marina view from the 3rd floor balcony.

Everyone talks about the Tahiti house but not too much mention about Fiji. Has any stayed at this house, or have an opinion on it? I am thinking of requesting that one when I got in October.

What time is the electrical parade on the lagoon each night as well.

Thanks
Gina

I have stayed at the Polynesian twice, both times in Fiji, and I can tell you that it is my favorite (considered garden view) long house. I would definitley request it, and request 3rd floor. Also, both sides have great views. One side is a view of the marina and the back of the Volcano pool. The other side is a view of a beach, part of the Seven Seas lagoon and a great view of the Grand Floridian & monorail.

Fiji is also very convenient to the Grand Ceremonial House.

I think its a great choice!

I requested a marina view in Fiji after I booked my garden view room because I didn't want a parking lot view and I thought it would be cool to have a view of the marina or beach next to the luau. We had a second floor room overlooking the marina. It was a great place to be and we could see the volcano, Space Mountain and we could see over into 'Ohana in the morning where Mickey was with some families next to the window. The walk to the Great Cerimonial House was quick and pleasant. The marina view is not the most beautiful though and I think I would choose the other side next time which is loads of tropical landscaping, lawn, beach, some of the lagoon and the GF.

Gina:

We stayed in Fiji in October 2001.

When we checked in I was hoping to get Tahiti (we had stayed there for our 3 prior trips) and was initially disappointed when I found out we got Fiji instead. But, turns out I was pleasantly surprised. The location & view were wonderful. We weren't on the marina side; we had a garden view (3rd floor) that overlooked a small beach with palm trees, the Wedding Pavilion and the monorail. We were close to Luau Cove but we were never in the room when the luau was taking place so I don't know how noisy it may have gotten in the room.

We loved that we were so close to the GCH and the volcano pool. It was so cool to walk past the marina and hear the howl from the Haunted Mansion and the whistle from the WDW Railroad from across the lagoon!

In 2001 the interior of Fiji was looking old, however, the entire longhouse was totally re-done in 2002 so I'm sure it's really nice now.

I have requested the Fiji longhouse for our trip in 50 days!!

Have a wonderful trip!

We were just there in May. It's definitely been refurbished.

Can anyone tell me what the refurbished buildings look like now. Even better, does anyone have any pics of the refurbished buildings? We will be staying there for the first time in December.:)

The buildings and rooms were refurbished for structural and environmental reasons. The decor remains the same.

Thanks for the info on the refurbishments. I didn't know if they were updating the rooms like new carpets, bedding, ect... I really like the the current way the rooms look. Thanks again!!:)

We were at the Poly last week, Fiji room 2311. The room had been nicely refurbished. There are hairdryers in the bathroom. We were on the 2nd floor, so we didn't have a balcony. But the location made up for it. Close to pool and GCH. We looked out over the marina. It was wonderful.

The water parade stopped at the Poly around 9pm.
