This has to do with getting through security checkpoint at the airport. I know that I will be able to keep my DSLR in my bag and just put the bag through the scanner and my camcorder (uses miniDV) has to be taken out and put in a separate bin to go through the scanner but what about the extra tapes I'm taking with me?

Are they safe to go through the scanner? Also would I need to take them out of my bag and put them in the same bin of as the camcorder?

The TSA talks about undeveloped film but I couldn't find anything on video tapes.

We will be in Disney in 13 days and I can't wait to shoot some pics with my canon. I didn't take it on our last trip and regret it since we only had a point and shoot but I won't leave it behind this time.

Hope to be able to share my images & video when we come back on here.

I would think your tapes will be fine to go thru the scanner. Myself, I just give my bag to the screener and have them check it by hand. I take so many lenses, camera, and misc cords, etc. i find this to be quicker and easier.

Have fun at Disney!

Thanks that might be the best solution as you suggested. I'll just pull the laptop out and put it in a bin and let them hand check the bag.

What's your preferred lens at Disney to use?

Tell them that the ISO on the tapes is over 800. There's plenty of signs that say Film over 800 ISO should be hand checked. They probably won't know the difference:thumbsup2

Tapes are actually more sensitive to the fields than high ISO film is. That said, I've sent mine through the scanners with no problems.
