Figment

my siblings and i are all teenagers and we absolutely look forward to this ride every time we visit disney. yes, the older one may have been better, but i think the love everyone here has for figment is awesome:love:

Personally, I don't hate it, but -- like Future World in general -- it's a pale shadow of what it once was. Because the original was to imagination what Spaceship Earth is to communication and history. Plus, it had a two-floor interaction play area called ImageWorks after the ride, plus Captian Eo in the theater.

When they replace Captain EO with Honey, I Shrunk the Audience, they also gutted the original ride, evicted Figment and Dreamfinder entirely, and installed the current Imagination Institute theme. It was pretty much universally panned, so they re-worked it to reintroduce Figment, but reusing as much of the Imagination Institute layout that they could.

Those that did not visit Epcot in the '80's and '90's really missed a lot of great stuff...the original Imagination pavilion, Horizons, Wonders of Life. There was a sense of mission, optimism, and whimsy that Future World just lacks right now.
Actually, the first 3D film was Magic Journeys presented by Kodak.
While it had a sparse story line the 3D effects were ground breaking for the 1982 time frame.

I have been to Disney numerous times but my last trip was the first time I ever went on the ride. I don't think I even knew about it before. It sounds like it went from a great ride to an afterthought. I never could figure out why everyone was so Figment crazy until now. It makes more sense now.

I did not know for years that there was an actual attraction in that building. For whatever reason, I thought it was some sort of exhibit.

First time I rode it was in 2016. It’s not the best dark ride of all time, but I’m such a fan of dark rides, I still enjoy it.

That's when I discovered it - May 2016

I still ride, because I love Omnimovers, the wonderful theme music, and to get as much Figment as I can.

But, maaaan. The original was something Very, Very Special.
Ambitious and audacious.Inspirational for so many who got to experience it.

And they absolutely butchered it.

(Also the skunk smell.)

I never got to see the original, but the current Figment is one of my and my daughter's favorite rides. We go on it a couple of times when we go to WDW.

It's better than Nemo, but that's about it for us...

Another bummer is how everytime we ride this, the "interactive" exhibits at the end always seem to be less than working.

The Nemo ride is so underwhelming (it was re-purposed from the submarines at Disneyland, which is a much better presentation) that we walk into the Living Seas through the gift shop.
