We are very interested in buying a fifth-wheel toy hauler. So...I've come to
the best place I know to get good advice - the Disboards!

What brands do you have, do you want, or would you recommend?

We truly value your opinions; thanks!!!

I see that you not getting many replys, so I will try to give some thought. We have an old King of the Road, they were a higher end 5th wheel. Ours has Torsion axles and a lot of the new ones dont. They give a smoother ride when pulling, for example they are used on almost all horse trailers.

A thought that my friend (Rv tech) gave me was the longer trailers 35-39' are for towing and staying put and shorter 30'-35' are for using for frequent travel, and I can see the point when trying to get into places.

I would also buy the best I could afford as it seems to me a lot of them are put together cheaply and a trailer takes a beating when pulling down a road. We have to travel I 10 thru Lousiana and that washboard makes it feel its going bounce off. We have a 30' which we pull with a Diesel crewcab and it seems for us the right size. Make sure the trailer has Heavy duty tires as Mfg's put just barely the required size and weight. 5th wheels are prone to have blowouts.

We don't have a toy hauler, but we are on our second 5th wheel - the first was a Copper Canyon and our current one is a Durango. Our parents, and two sets of aunts/uncles own Montanas. Montana and Copper Canyon are both Keystone - which I do recommend. I believe the Keystone toy haulers brands are Fusion and Raptors.

Really, you need to know what price range you are looking at (low, mid, high) and what sort of floor plan and options you are looking for, along with the towing capacity of your tow vehicle. The best advice I have is to go to a RV Show and walk through them. That is the best way to get a feel for whats out there and what you want.

Toy haulers are bound to be long, and I imagine they are on the heavier side. Our fifth wheel is 39' because we have a bunk house for the kids, and I want to say that some of those toy haulers seemed longer than that - but maybe its just an illusion.

Try rv.net. There is a forum on there just for 5th wheels. They will give you good info. We own a 34' Cougar. Also made by keystone, not a toy hauler, but we are happy with the 5th wheel. Good luck!:yay:
