I am just under 7 weeks out from our trip. I have made our ADRS, decided what parks to do on what days. Can't book FP until 30 days. I feel like I should be doing something!
So I thought I might plan my dream trip - which would include a cruise, a stay at Universal and of course a Disney resort stay (never stayed on site). Is this a strange thing to do?? Has anyone else done this?? Or am I just odd??

No, you are definitely not odd! :teeth:

Ours would be a multi-centre trip. So starting out in San Francisco for a few days for some good ol' city sightseeing, then over to WDW, staying at AKL or WL, and maybe a night or 2 at Universal.

Been trying to look into this. Am I better off trying to book everything separately or as I package? Ideally I would like a Disney hotel stay with tickets, probably 7nights. The 3/4 night Bahamian cruise. 3/4 nights at a Universal hotel with tickets. Plus flights from the UK. Ideally I'd also like a few extra days to maybe do discovery cove and Kennedy space centre. Maybe SeaWorld as not doing that this trip. So probably looking at a 21 day trip.....

Ha. Thank you. Just spent about my 2 hours looking into it.....

No i think a bit of fantasy planning helps . it can motivate you to save and budget that bit harder. and you may discover that with some careful planning you can manage the dream trip .

I dreamed of going for ages but didnt really look , saved up what i though was enough and went to virgin to try book a package. Turned out i didnt have anywhere near enough. then i found this site and the following year we went on a 3 week trip doing everything we hoped and more. i did it d.i.y with help from so many people on here and knocked about 40% off the quote i had from virgin :)

Happy planning whether its a real trip or the next dream trip :)

Thank you. I would be traveling from the UK and to do everything I want to, would need a 3 week vacation. Am guessing it would cost around £15000. I can't justify it... however it doesn't hurt to plan and wish.....

But actually looking into it...planning it......

As pp said, the planning may well make it a reality. £15,000 seems a lot of money for what you want. I just priced up for 2 people, 7 nights Disney, 3 nights RPR and 11 nights off-site, car hire, Virgin flights and including tickets and that came out about £5.5 to £6k so hopefully you could come in under £15k.

What's RPR? Lol. There are 4 of us and we will have to go in the UK summer holidays. Cruise could be between £3000-4000 alone :(
I would have to do a lot more research to get a proper figure..
I paid £6500 for our 14 night trip at the end of July, staying off property:(

Sorry! Royal Pacific Resort at Universal, we stayed there last July and it was great to have front of the line access when it was so busy. Summer holidays are a killer for flights, ours were very expensive last year but we did manage to use our miles with Virgin to make it cheaper. The time of year really can make a difference. I didn't realise the cruise would be so expensive ... Ouch!!

If money was unlimited we would love to travel from one side of the USA to the other, doesn't matter which way and it could take months. We would visit all those iconic and beautiful spots in the country where the sheer stunning views of nature take your breathe away. We would also work it so we take in as many smaller towns as possible even taking trains would be an experience to enjoy. Then from that trip we would love to see all of Canada preferably in the warmer months ( I can't cope with freezing temperatures ).

I have thought about it in the past but never looked in to costing but might think about that too now :) Would start with flying to florida for 3 nights at universal. Then on to California for a 5 night stay at Disneyland. Short trip up to San Fancisco for 3 nights (always wanted to see it). Then back to Florida for a 7 night stay at Deluxe resort. Then a 3 night disney cruise to end with before flying back home.

we were 5 traveling from uk also . Was mostly august but overlapped a few days in to Sept as price dropped massively , we flew indirect which saved us even more. Did disney and seaworld with lots of extras dine with shamu, full bibbity boutique package etc. affter our onsite disney week we went to an offsite hotel to offset costs of extra theme park tickets. then we did a 7 day road trip to key west and back up the gulf coast . total cost was £11,700 including lots spends and shopping mall!the virgin quote was over 20k without spends !!!

Wow...just wow.........hope you had an amazing time :)

Hi guys. I am not sure if this helps your fantasy trip become a reality or not but here goes.

We went in July/August 2012, myself, my wife and three kids and one of their friends. We were in the USA for almost 5 weeks. We flew to NY and had a week there staying in a reasonable hotel near the East River, 1 room for the six of us. At the end of that week I collected a Town & Country 7 seater and we drove to Washington and stayed there for a couple of nights in a nice hotel on Penn Avenue, We left there and drove down through the Skyline Drive and the Blue Ridge Parkway, and stayed over a couple of nights en route to WDW. We then had 3 weeks on site at WDW in one of the cabins, including dining plan and tickets. We then flew from Orlando to Dulles before flying back to the UK. I have done a rough 'tot' up and I reckon that came to about 16000 - 17000. But bear in mind that was for six of us, with a car for four weeks.

Flights £3840 (United)
Cabins £7200
Car £1000
NY Hotel £1200
Other hotels £500
Spending for shopping, fuel and stuff £3000

£16740

I am doing this from memory but it is roughly right. We were away I thin 33 nights from July 31st so it was at peak times. If you break that right down that was £84.54 per person/per night. But that is travel, accom, food, tickets, spending etc etc etc. So I don't honestly think that is that bad for what was without doubt our best holiday ever.

Anyway, thought I would chuck that into the pot. Hope you have a great time when you go soon

Steve
