YAY!!!!! We can celebrate that we made it through! :dance3: :banana::yay::teacher:

Lucky you! I LOVE the Osbourne Lights! That was THE most awesome thing I have ever seen. I loved those lights!! That is my computer screen saver is a pic in front of the Osbourne Lights. I am really reminiscing about our trip last Christmas. This time last year we were there. SIGH

Congrats to you both for survving another semester:thumbsup2.

DH grades all in and he just got his first PHD class grade back a B. He's happy. Figures he worked several jobs, went to school in another state and had the flu two weeks so a B in his "worst class" is good! Now he's back and we argured all weeked:sad2: Guess that means we'll have to make up this weekend;)

Got you covered:)

Wishing Pain free vibes:goodvibes and Pixie dustpixiedust: to all!

Well, dh just called and I'm in shock. The juvenile facility he teaches at announced they are closing tomorrow.
He has a contract until the end of May, he'll still get paid and they will find something for him to do until then, so we are safe right now.
But with all the budget cuts here, it will be hard finding another job for next school year.

That's all I need...more stress.

I'm so sorry!! That sucks this time of year. I'm glad to hear you have a contract. At least you can still celebrate the holidays with money comming in. Still the stress of not knowing kills me so I can only imagine how you feel today. :sad2:DH and I have gone through this a few time since Mental health services are always cut first. Hopefully with the entire spring to look he will find a better and more stable position! Here's hoping this is a blessing in disguise:hug:

Oh no, I'm so sorry to see this. I hope he finds something very quickly. Would he be able to go back to school? That's why my husband is doing. The state is paying for it and he still collects unemployment.

How do you all deal with the sore feet and legs the first few days of the trip? Is there some secret to avoid this?

I keep meaning to get on the treadmill but I'm too lazy. When I left work at 6 tonight I had in 37 hours for the week already. So I'm tired by the time I get home. Today I worked 10 hours because I didn't take a lunch. I KNOW I need to walk on the treadmill, I just can't force myself to do it.

He went back to school 6 years ago when he decided to get back into teaching. We lived on savings for that year, can't do it again. He is thinking about going back into the computer field, but now he's been out for 6 years, not sure anyone will hire him. He was a system manager, but technology changes so fast, it may have passed him by.
His contract may not be valid if the facility closes, so he may only have a job for a few more weeks, we'll know more tomorrow.
The school is run by a different company, and the facility did not tell his employer that they were closing, that's why we don't have details yet.

Keeping my fingers crossed that the contract is valid and covers you for at least a while...

Thanks!

I didn't sleep very well last night.

Today will be a busy day for dh. This morning they will be moving the school items from the facility, meet at 10 with their employer to find out their future, annual Christmas lunch at 11:30.
This afternoon we will attend the 1:00 funeral for one of his coworkers' daughter. After that, he will visit his para, who had her knee replaced Monday and has missed all the drama at work.
Then tonight we have a pot luck Christmas dinner and gift exchange. Just hope I don't fall asleep during it!:rotfl:

Okay, DH just called now after his meeting with his employer. He is employed until the end of May. In January he will help empty the school, then after that they don't know yet. I am so relieved!!!!

Unfortunately, the paras do not have contracts, and will be employed till the end of January. They will try to find them other jobs in their other schools.

The employees of the facility did not fare as well. They can apply at their employer's other facility and will be given preference, but they have to start over at base salary, no matter how many years they have in. What a Christmas present!

Glad your husband gets to work through May. Sorry to hear about the others. That is very sad about the salaries if they get to go to another school.

I try and make sure I soak in the hot tub after a day of walking and also try and wear shoes I am used to. My hips are what ends up aching, not sure why. I also try and take a day off in between park days and that seems to help as well. We always sleep in and I do better the later in the day we start adn usually stay for EMH or Park closing. I am always better at night than in the morning.

How many days until you leave?

Erika

I am glad you have the time to come up with a plan adn get you through to next year!

Since it is after midnight here we leave in 12 more days! I really need to spend a lot of time on the treadmill to get my feet used to some extra walking. I'm tender footed. I'm hoping my hip doesn't bother me. Usually it is good when I'm there. My brace always goes with me just in case.

Tuesday I'm going to steroid injections in my right shoulder and both knees. My left knee isn't bothering me too much but I'd rather go ahead and get one to be safe. Sadly, I'll still be sore from the injections when we get there. But it will be at the end of the sore period and they should all feel good quickly. I may have to try the hot tub!

NOW, on the other hand, if I DID have a BF that took care of me, and the house, then maybe I wouldn't be so tired. :rotfl:
I have to admit, I miss the houseboy skills of the last BF (him, not so much--but his houseboy skills . . . . sigh)

Now on to Christmas! The Osborne lights were gorgeous this weekend, I think we're going back over tomorrow to see them, it always puts me back in a holiday spirit!
We have gone the first week of November the last two years and I've never seen them because they start later--I definitely have to do this sometime. Is it crazy crowded

Guess that means we'll have to make up this weekend;)
Shhhhhhhhhh--on the DisDiva thread we call it "watching t.v."

I am so sorry--the economy sucks. I hate uncertainty too. I hope things get settled sooner rather than later.

Hi! I am new to the DIS and so excited to find this thread! I was diagnosed with fibro about a month ago, but as with most things in life, it wasn't that cut and dried... My dr had me start on Savella and wean off my Effexor. About 2 weeks into that process I ended up in the ER with the entire left side of my body numb and tingling.

Thankfully, they ruled out a stroke in the ER but scheduled a brain MRI to look for a brain tumor or signs of MS. Again, thankfully, I got the MRI results back and there wasn't a tumor. However, there did appear to be white spots on my brain and the dr is recommending a neurologist.

My fibro has caused insane fatigue... to the point of sleeping for long periods of time at my desk... and pain pretty much throughout my entire body. However, the Savella seems to be helping *fingers crossed*... but I fear that if I can't fix some of the stress in my life I won't ever feel much better.

I work one full-time job (full-time like 50-60 hrs/week) that is beyond stressful and one part-time job (4-8 hrs/week). I'm afraid of losing my full-time job b/c they are fed up with my dr appts (1-2/week) and my "fibro fog" that has greatly reduced my productivity. Not to mention that the dr's bills that are literally piling up and are now sitting in the $1000's.

Anyway, that's nearly a novel right there but it is so great to have found this thread and other people who understand what this is like. Sending prayers and pixie dust to all! :grouphug:

Copy_Pixie glad you found us. Isn't it wonderful to have answers? I hope things start getting better at your job. I understand how it is when things are so stressful at work.

Earstou: I am glad that your hubby got work till May, hopefully that will be enough time to line up something else.

Copy_pixie: Welcome, and it is comforting to have a diagnosis but doesn't make symptoms any easier to deal with. I think we all can relate to extreme fatigue. I woke up yesterday morning and proceeded to nap on my couch all afternoon until 6:00 pm when I finally moved my butt to make dinner.
:guilty:

I still do not have my tree up. Remember when I said I was going to have a jammie day? Well that seems to have turned into a jammie weekend. ;)

Hope you all have the best day you can.

Chell and brighteyes, thanks so much for the warm welcome, and don't worry brighteyes, my tree isn't up either... it was jammie day for me too! :o
