FFP+ for offite coming soon - Confirmed by Disney

I wonder if they will close that throwaway room feature if they do end up with different booking windows for onsite, AP offsite, and offsite non-AP.

Or maybe they won't care if you are willing to buy a room for one night.

There's no way for them to know you will not use the room. Even if you have to check-in, they will not check the room to be sure you are there.

I was saying if they make the booking windows different (60 onsite, 30 AP offsite, and then offsite we don't know yet)....I wonder if they will close the feature where you can prebook more days of FP+ than just the two days corresponding to the one night of the throwaway room.

Can you not book FP+ for the length of ticket, rather than the actual length of onsite stay?

Right now you can (that's what the whole throwaway room thing is about).

I'm just wondering if they will change it so that you can only book at 60 days for the length of your onsite resort stay, not the length of your ticket.

The selection window for making FastPass+ selections may vary based on the type of admission ticket or pass that you use.
I thought this had been in there for a while now.

I suspect it won't matter---the set of things that might sell out even a week in advance are likely to be few and far between, so the "value" of a throwaway room will go way down. Avoiding having to do day-of FP+ reservations? Probably worth it. Getting 60 days in advance rather than 15? Probably only for the hardcore.

There is a way to know if you entered your room. The door lock "phones home" registering an entry into the room with the ID of your Magic Band.

It might also be interesting to see how many reservations Disney currently has due to the FP+ program at its on site resorts that will be cancelled once guests can use this feature when staying off site. Wonder if that may then have an impact on the FP+ program. Hard to believe that Disney invested this much money in the FP+ program without looking to make more money somehow.

Also I guess if you want a throw away room and are worried about Disney checking your wrist band, could you not simply book a campsite?

The one thing that jumped out to me when I read the OP is that it said "reserving access to select rides and attractions". Do you think they would make it so off site wouldn't be able to book 7DMT or TSMM? I usually stay onsite but would still hope they wouldn't treat off site like the redheaded stepchild.

The wording previously stated very specifically that Magic Your Way and Annual Pass holders would get 60 days, and that _other_ tickets could be different.

Not if you have a campsite. I don't think it's really worth it for them to check up on it to shut down your fastpasses.

I think you're reading too much into it. FastPass+ itself is only available at "select rides and attractions" :)

I hope I am! I truly do not think FP+ should be a perk for onsite. I can see the 60+10 or whatever they do for ADRs, but not different attractions.

Well that is good news, for us in the neighbourhood slums. :rolleyes1

I don't really mind when I get access providing it isn't the day I arrive at the park adding another line to my day, obviously the earlier the better however.

Now if it could just happen before our trip in May. Tickets loaded and ADR's made 67 days to go until our trip.

Yes, but onsite guests have an advantage in booking dining ressies. I think, this part may stick around.

I think it will stick around, but I still think the final version will still end up being more like a +10, like dining is, rather than a +30.

Ok, let me try to see if I'm getting this straight.

If, and I know that's a big if, they start this before I get there in April, I could go to guest services somewhere and purchase our tickets (we get them with my points thru my rewards card so I have to get them thru Disney) a few days before we are in the parks and then sign us up online and get our FPs then? Even the day before would help.

Oh ok, I'm with you now. I knew about that but with things changing on an hourly basis I just assumed I'd missed another new rule :rotfl: Hence me asking the question. Thanks.
