My wife and I went for a quick adults only trip from 1/18-1/20. Overall our food was very good with a few outliers.
France - crepe. Terrible. The crepe came off of a stack of room temperature pastries that were made a while ago. The cast member then squirted a little chocolate syrup (not Nutella or something similar) on it and handed it to me. I really like crepes and have had some great examples in France and in the US in addition to making my own and this was the worst I’ve ever had. The crepes they used to serve at the cape may breakfast buffet would put this the shame, and those were average at best.
Via Napoli Dinner. Great as usual. We have eaten here 7 or 8 times at various different times and seasons and this restaurant has been consistently excellent every time we go. I am always confused when I see people say that the pizza here is terrible or even average. This restaurant serves a great version of Neapolitan style pizza. I’m convinced people who don’t like their meal here just do not prefer Neapolitan pizza. I also had the pasta fagioli and my wife had a Cesar salad and both were good.
Refreshment port. Festival of the arts Cronut. Average. This is a typical cronut with some vanilla pudding and some candy beads. The add ons added nothing but calories and I threw it away after 3 bites. The plain cronut is much better.
Keys to the kingdom tour/ Tomorrowland terrace lunch. Average. We both had chicken tenders and fried house chips and they were average theme park food. Other lunch selections were a veggie burger and a chef salad which the cast members said were not as good as the chicken tenders.
Tambuu Lounge. N/A. I tried to get a piece of O’Hana bread pudding at 2:30 but was told it was only available after 4, so I didn’t get a chance to eat here.
Gaston’s Tavern. Good. I had the cinnamon roll which was drier than I Remember and with less icing, but it is still huge. The ham and cheese pretzel had very good flavor and could easily be a meal.
Be Our Guest Dinner. Great. This was the second straight excellent meal we have had here despite some questionable reviews I’ve seen lately. I had braised beef and my wife had the steak and both were cooked perfectly and were very flavorful. The desserts were the least exciting part (chocolate mousse and grey stuff) and were somewhat bland, but were still good enough to finish.
Rose and Crown. Great. My wife had the fish and chips which were excellent and had the perfect amount of breading on the cod. She liked these fries better than the BOG steak fries. I had the chicken curry and it was very good. The rice was cooked perfectly and I would defiantly get this again. We split the toffee cake and really liked it. It had a strong caramel flavor.
Finally I had a funnel cake in America which was good, but had way too much powdered sugar.
That was a lot of food in 3 days, but we walked 25 miles so we felt slightly better about it!
