I did a search for all these topics, but nothing was forthcoming:

1) I know they have clubs for adults - 80's night, etc. Do they ever have slow songs for slow dancing? DH and I aren't fast dancers, that's for darn sure, but as an anniversary trip I thought a little slow dancing at sea would be romantic. I guess we could go up on deck and just hum ;) .

2) We are GTY 12. What if we don't WANT an upgrade (now I know it's unlikely, given that we are just 2 and it's more likely a group of 3-4 in a cat 12 will be upgraded). Now I wouldn't say no to an upgrade to porthole or above, but if they want to move us to a cat 10 or 11, I'd just as soon stay in a 12 since it's on the 2nd level and less prone to ship motion. Anyone ever done this?

3) For early Jan. cruise, we got a rate of $399/person for four nights at Cat. 12, with a $25 ship credit, which I know is a faaaaaaantastic rate. I'm just curious...is this an annual thing? I keep telling my friends about it, but wonder how soon before they can expect it to get booked up or the rate to go up. Also wondering: if we love it, if we can expect to see such a great rate for the same time next year?

4) Used costco membership to book Budget rental car for three days, picking up from MCO, dropping off at Cape Canaveral, and a one day return rental: $108 total. I've heard good things about Budget, that they have a good shuttle, and it really seems like a good deal. If anyone can advise me if this is a good rate or if I should look elsewhere too, I'd appreciate the heads up.

5) Are the fridges large enough to lay wine/champagne bottles in?

6) At Serenity Bay, can you actually order from your lounge chair, or do you have to walk to the bar? If so, while I read that you don't tip the bar staff b/c drinks automatically are given a 15% gratuity mark up, but what about those waiters trudging along the sand at Castaway Cay? Do you tip extra?

7) Do you tip your excursion people?

8) Are non-jean capri's acceptable in AP and Parrot Cay at dinner, or is that too casual?

9) Are there "do not disturb" signs for the rooms? Our vacations are pretty sporadic about sleep times and multiple naps :)

10) Have you ever seen someone being dragged kicking and screaming off the boat during disembarkation? Now be honest: was that person you?

Can only help you on a few of your questions.. they are not fridges that will keep things cold, so keeping wine in them to be chilled will require you to put in a container of ice & set it in with whatever you want to keep chilled. They are not very big from what I remeber, so a bottle of wine may not fit. You can always just keep the wine in a bucket with ice maybe ???

Depending on the excursion, yea they probably will have a tip-jar out...

You can wear jeans in the dinning rooms now, so non-jean capris will be fine.

We had to go to the bar to get drinks, not sure if we just didnt see someone taking orders on the beach or if there just werent any....

I would have just rented the car for one day, not 3?? maybe this works better for your situation......

Thanks! I guess they will bring you an ice bucket from Room Service if you ask? I guess I could also invest in one of those thermal wine doohickeys.

We're renting a car for three days before for while we're at WDW. I know people think we're crazy, but we like to drive ourselves around...we only use the buses a few times.

I can help with two:

Capris should be fine in all of the dining rooms. The 3 day cruise is more casual than the 7-day, and they have relaxed the dress codes somewhat in recent times.

You could always refuse an upgrade, but keep in mind there are other categories of cabins on the lower decks. We were upgraded from at GTY11 to a 9, and stayed on Deck 1, which we really liked.

Have a great time!

I can help with one question, obviously, the most important question...the wine one. We brought two bottles of wine aboard with us. They were the large, double-size wine bottles (only the finest for us :goodvibes but it's what we like). We were able to stand them up in the cooler/fridge thingy as well as put 6 bottles of water in there. We didn't get any ice and they stayed quite cool. Not ice cold but cool enough. You can always get your stateroom host/hostess to get you ice but there's definitely room for the wine bottles.
Enjoy!

Why yes, yes that was me :teeth: And it's amazing DCL is willing to let me back onto a ship (knowing that they'll have to hunt me down & drag me off again). :rotfl:

I wasn't kicking and screaming but, I did turn around and tell them I changed my mind!!! They just showed me the way off anyway. :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

One thought....my understanding is that with a gty, you are essentially accepting whatever they give you, However, you are always free to call them and tell them that you really want the 12. When we had gty, we were just "assigned" a higher category. When we had a booked cabin, we got a phone call offering an upgrade.

Capris should be fine.

Dragging off the ship--I avoid that by having my next cruise already booked.

Special rates do tend to be annual events, but they also change. What I mean is that you can't count on it. We do know that Sept/Oct. and January tend to be much lower rates than usual, but it is totally a matter of how fast the ship books up.

The fridge is not really a fridge--it is a "beverage cooler." Yes, it will hold a bottle of wine, but they will also bring you an ice bucket if you ask.

Some excursions have a tip jar out. It is certainly not required as your fee thru DCL includes the whole thing.

Yes, there is a "do not disturb" sign for your door.

Have fun!!!

When we disembarked, they cut the line off right before us, but DD got off, and I was trying to tell them that is my DD. Anyways, I thought they were telling my DD to come back and wait with us, but they were telling us to go ahead with our DD. Sure enough, my DH gave me a kick in the butt and sai "They said to get off the boat!" LOL!!! :sad2: So I was literally kicked off, and my DD (8) and I cried, LOL!
