Going 4/24-5/01/2004 - 4 adults, 4 kids (6,3,5mo & 4mo).
Is this show worth it? If so, is the dinner package the way to go? Does anyone know if it is crowded at the end of April? Is it appropriate for ages of the younder children?

TIA

Hi! We have LOVED the Fantasmic show each time we have gone. It is wonderful and I highly recommend it. I honestly don't know about the crowds in April, but even going at less popular times, the show has been very crowded. At popular times, I know they offer two shows, and the later of the two is the least crowded. I've heard wonderful things about the dinner package. I guess the biggest highlight with that is that you have a guaranteed seat!

As far as being appropriate for younger children, my kids have never had a problem. My 6-month-old basically slept through it this time, but my 3-year-old and 6-year-old absolutely loved it. I had warned them in advance that the show has villains and is loud, so they were prepared. My daughter was 18 months when we first took her to the show, and she didn't have a problem at that age, either. It is loud and the villains are scary at times, so if your little ones scare easily, you may choose to skip it until they are older.

Try to get an upper-row seat because you do get wet down low!!

Have fun!!!!! I wish I was going in April:-).

we loved the show, thought the package totally unnecessary in Jan. and think it is intense for preshoolers, dark, loud , giant dragon, lots of scared 2-3 yr olds were taken out when we were there. it surprised me how scarey it was considering the audience..it didn't scare me but know my kids would have hated it when they were preschoolers...however they also hated drive in disney movies at that age due to the largerer than life scarey images of witches, ect so I am sure it might vary with the child.

I know how many people love the show----but we just couldn't really get into it when we went last November. My DD 4 didn't care for the darkness, loud noises etc. It got very smokey that night and made viewing part of the show difficult. My DD 7 really just enjoyed the last part. The 30 min. before the show was tedious (the wave was great thought) because the kids were a bit antsy (we met a nice couple on their anniversary---without their kids!). I'm glad we did it because we hadn't done it on our previous trips, but we leave tomorrow again and it is not on our schedule this time. I much prefer the Spectro Parade with the amazing color and lights.

We did do the package and discovered our new favorite restaurant Mama MelRose @ MGM.

I just wanted to give you my view--add it to everyone else's and you'll make the right decision for you and your family. Have a great time!!!

this is my kids absoulute favorite show since they were 2 and 4. They used to be scared of dark shows and loud noises, but for some reason this one didn't scare them. In fact we went back 2 more times that trip and 1 or 2 times per vaca on each additional trip. We have never found the dinner show necessary. FYI if you do the dinner and show package the reserved seating in all the way on the right of the theater so some of the effects may be missed. We have been in April in the past and it was very very crowded. School vacations are at different times throughout the US so It is crowded much of April. We enjoyed our April visit though it took much longer to do everything. (the parks are open later at night). If you look at the operating hours for the time that you are going you can guesstimate the crowd levels keeping in mind that the parks close at 5 or 6 during the least crowded period (except epcot they always close at 9 or 10). When it is expected to be crowded the other park are open til 10 or 12.

We are Fantasmic lovers too! My kids first saw it at ages 3 &4 1/2 and werent scared at all. Now my DS, who is 2 has been to Disney 4 times starting at 3 mos, never cried or was scared of anything. In fact, he LOVES the spooky dragon!!! We are heading back down over THanksgiving again and my Mom wants to see Fantasmic twice this time! We have mostly gone in January, went last October, and once at Thanksgiving and we have never NOT been able to get a seat. I dont go an hour or more early either. we head up about 30 minutes early, grab ice cream first, then we have to go park the stroller and they are usually filling the last section with 15-20 minutes to go. I never found that I needed to spend big bucks on dinner to get a reserved seat there.

I see you will have 2 infants and a toddler, we aware that you can NOT take your stoller with you for Fantasmic. They make you park it near the top of the walk way. If you rent a stroller, they make you take all of your stuff out of it , as they will line those up on the ramp, and you just grab one on your way out. They sell all those light up thingy-ma-bobs before hand, and my kids always begged for one. I found it cheaper to get them at the Disney store before we go!! Have fun.

We did Fantasmic last year for the first time. We're going again in May and both kids(8&11) requested that we do this again. They really enjoyed it.

In 2002 when DD was 4, she loved the show. We are going again this year and that is the 1st nighttime show we are going to watch.

Sunday night, April 4th, we will be at Fantasmic!:Pinkbounc
