I'm going to be staying in a 1 bedroom MK view in 5 days () and I was just wondering a few things.

1) I want to be as high up as possible, what floors do the 1 bedroom villas go up to?

2) I've been reading a lot about people being dissapointed in their MK view, should I be scared of getting a bad view?

3) When we did online check in I read about suggesting a new room if you don't like yours:confused3 Waht's the deal with this and has anyone ever done this?

Thanks in advance :goodvibes

Check out http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=2257082 for very comprehensive information as to rooms and views. As to being scared about not having the "ideal" MK view, I just think the best you can do is make your requests and hope for the best. As to suggesting a better room, personally, I would *never* do that. We have a saying in our house "you get what you get and you don't pitch a fit" and I couldn't imagine complaining about a room because it didn't have the view I thought it should have. I know that in 50 years of DVC ownership, I'm going to get good views and not so good views so I will appreciate the times when I get the good ones, and just deal with it when I get the not so good ones, knowing that I'm still in the most magical place on earth. Have a great trip! :thumbsup2

We were told at BLT in December that since we used online check in, we couldn't request a different room.

I would agree with you if the MK view rooms were not more "expensive" (i.e. more points) DVD made some questionable rooms MK Views so they could sell more points.

I agree. I just booked my MK view of Jan 2011, and would be very unhappy with a not-so MK view. My MK view booking is significantly more points than a LV or SV, so I do expect to get what I'm "paying" for.

I understand your concerns, but I will tell you that when we bought in, our Guide specifically told us that, as to both the lake and MK views, that if any portions of either the lake (lake view) or the Magic Kingdom (MK view) are shown, it is considered that particular view. For our trip in September we paid the extra points for a lake view and were disappointed that we could only see the lake if we leaned out to the left. Really, our view was of the Contemporary. Still, since I knew when I bought in the parameters of what the views consisted of, and since there *was* a portion of the lake showing in my view, I just chalked it up to hoping for better luck next time. I certainly would have never thought of going back to the Contemporary and asking for another view just because I wasn't happy with what we got. With that said, I think that Disney did fairly well in terms of view allocation. Sure, there are a couple of views (MK and lake) that aren't the best, but that is going to happen with every resort. :upsidedow

I wouldn't care if I weren't paying the extra money for a MK view.

I think that the problem right now is that some of the MK views are not that great (given the extra points cost) but honestly, someone is going to be in them and you may or may not be that person.

Personally, I do not think I would be spending the extra points for MK view now, knowing that these types of views exist. I myself would be upset to get there and get stuck with that 3rd floor room.

If you really are not going to be okay with getting something that is not what you consider "perfect" (and can not get it changed), you might want to think about whether the extra points is really worth it.

Not trying to be negative, but I would hate to see anyone get to WDW and have them feel their trip was ruined because they ended up in something they were not expecting.

When I booked this trip BLT wasn't open yet and I believed that a MK view was going to be great. It wasn't untill the last fews week that I read about some of the views lacking. It's too late now to change our reservations and still get a villas somewhere else.

I'm not going to let it ruin my vacation if the view is bad, but I will certainly complain at the end of my trip if the view is bad.

And I think that is what is most important, letting them know that the some of the rooms that have been classified as MK view are NOT what members were expecting for such a points difference.

I hope you have a great time and here is the pixiedust that you get one of those rooms on a higher floor!!! pixiedust:pixiedust:pixiedust:

As one of the members complaining about the view we received, I would go as far as saying "[we felt our] trip was ruined because they ended up in something they were not expecting" it would take a lot to ruin my trip, and quite frankly if it hadn't been for the extra points, I wouldn't have given the room a second thought. Quite frankly, Disney creates the whole problem of people being unhappy with the view they get by distinguishing the views. If all rooms were the same and it was the luck of the draw, I'd be disappointed, but I wouldn't feel "ripped off".

I agree with you 100% and am sorry that you got stuck with that room. I don't know how they can justify charging extra points for MK view on floor 3, when the room right below it, is considered SV and quite a few points less.

That is one of the reasons why we will always do SV or possibly LV, but never pay the extra points for MK view. It is just not worth it. For the difference, I can stay extra nights instead.

And, this past summer, I stayed in a LV studio, #8206, which had a view of the fireworks from my balcony. So, for me, I will take the lower point rooms, put in request for that side of the resort, and just hope that once in awhile I get my request. If not, no big deal!
