My husband has finally decided to consider a Disney Cruise. We are looking at doing Disney Magic next year for spring break. I am looking for your best tips, pros and cons for my family of 6. DD 14, DD 12, DS 9, DD 6. Also since there is 6 of us, what is the best way to book rooms. We were think 1 adult and 2 kids in 2 staterooms? Also, on their private island, do they charge for the slides like other cruise lines, if so, how much?

Your best bet as far as rooms would be to book connecting staterooms. Disney doesn't actually care who sleeps in which room as long as one adult (over 21 if there are minors in the room) is booked in each stateroom.

We just did a B2B on the Magic 2 weeks ago, it was wonderful. We loved the ship (although I think I still prefer the Wonder).

There is no charge on Castaway Cay for Pelican Plunge - that is the only slide. The only charges at Castaway Cay are for alcoholic (or other) drinks ordered from the bar and excursions.

I love the Magic but not been on Dream/Fantasy. I like the fact its not too big but a great size.

Definitely the 2 room option is a good one as it not only gives you space but allows the kids a bit of freedom. Once you get onboard where people actually sleep you can then sort out. We travelled as a 5 in 2 rooms and I ended up switching half way through. As we were connecting with the same room steward it was easy to sort.

As said only drinks and excursions are charged on the island. There is a soda station that is free (well multiple actually) but alcohol or if you order a soft drink at a bar is charged.

The Magic is a beautiful ship, you will love it!!!
You will become addicted too.

Spring break will be expensive. I would book ASAP to lock in the rate. You can always cancel or change rooms (subject to availability of course).

I've spent 33 nights on the Magic in 3 cruises, the most recent in December. My favorite ship! You will have a blast! If you are up for it, look into doing the fish extenders. You should check your cruise meet thread for more info.

Don't miss the shows. They are really good, and spending that family time together at the dinner and shows every night is one of the special things about Disney, IMO.

This is something I love about Disney, how they treat Castaway Cay like an extension of the ship itself (can't believe that other cruise lines charge for the use of things like slides on their islands!)

The Magic will always be our favorite ship -- she was our first cruise to Europe, and our first long cruise and she holds a special place for us. She's very classy.

We're a family of six, and what we did was two passengers in a Balcony Cabin and four passengers in an Interior Cabin directly across the hall. The price per person is just a little bit cheaper if you put 4 in the Interior instead of 3 in each. It's also cheaper than two connecting Balcony rooms - but that's a personal choice as the convenience of connecting rooms is nice.

'As has been said, Disney doesn't care who sleeps where. We for sure will have four sleeping in the Balcony once we're aboard.
