Festival Fantasy parade FP area

Hi everyone
Is the FP area for the MK fantasy parade entirely in the sun? Also is it a good area for small children? I have a FP but thinking it may be a bad choice because of where it is located.

1. For a 3 O'Clock start-time, I'd arrive at about 3:10pm. (Yes, I meant to say 3:10pm.)

Yep. I got sunburned on the tops of my feet because we arrived early, and as you're at the end of the route you'll wait awhile for the parade to get to you. I hid under an umbrella to shield the sun. On the positive side, we got a great view right at the curb, and weren't being jostled by any crowds. I think it could be nice for kids because they could run around the middle of the area while you wait, and then go up to the curb when the parade arrives.

If you want a spot on the rope, you might need to arrive earlier. If you want the spot looking down main street, you definitely need to arrive earlier (plan on 2ish). That is the first spot to fill up. But the area isn't at all crowded, so if you are okay standing, then closer is definitely not a problem.

Also, keep an eye on the weather if you are hoping to jump in just before the parade starts. They will start the parade early if there is a chance of rain at 3. Saturday the parade reached Town Square about 3:05. Not super common, but just something to think about.

I have seen people jump in the FP area at 2 in order to get the spot looking down Main Street. More often than not they are photographers, but if that shot is important, don't expect to walk up during the return window and grab it.

96.3% percent of the time (give or take) the 3:00 Parade (FoF) will not reach the Town Square FP+ area until 3:28PM.

That's why I am incredulous someone would arrive about 2PM.

This MK day is for just my mom & I while DH & the kids go to AK - the entire family is going to MK all together on another day.
The day is all about my mom. I'm going to get FP+ for the parade & she wants to eat at Tony's. Yes, I know it gets horrible reviews but the pizza should be edible & my expectations aren't high.
If the parade gets there around 3:30 what would be a good time to make our late lunch/early dinner ADR?

If you want to try to get a seat on Ton'y PORCH (no guarantees that will happen, but you won't need the FP) make the ADR for 2:45-3:00PM-ish.

If you want to eat BEFORE the parade, make your ADR for 1:45-2:15PM-ish.

I'm sorry I didn't explain myself better. I don't want to risk it and not get a seat on the porch. Eating afterwards would be better but I'm not sure of what time the parade is finished there. Would 4pm be good? I would still be able to check in at 4:15 if need be.
