By the time we left the Yacht Club the light misting rain was starting to pick up. We had planned on heading over to the Swan and Dolphin, but figured we really needed to head back to the Boardwalk to pick up our raincoats and umbrellas. We took the boat back across the lake, and by the time we got off it was pouring. I could see my plans for the rest of the afternoon going down in flames.

Strike 2 for the day.

The cool weather had eliminated swimming from my plans, but I had really been hoping for some hot tub time. Wasn't going to be happening today.
My first choice would have been to do a bit more resort exploring to check out the holiday decorations, but I knew my friend wanted to go to DTD to do some shopping. She had been holding off on doing any shopping in the parks, so since she was reluctant to go off on her own I figured we'd just go ahead and go to DTD for the rest of the afternoon. I had no real shopping plans, but I never mind a trip to DTD to poke around.
The bus for DTD showed up relatively quickly, but I did manage to snap a pic of the Boardwalk entrance that had been alluding me so far this trip.
Once we got down to DTD, it seemed like everyone else had the same idea as us. It was packed! The combination of a rainy day and the holiday season had brought people out in droves. We spent a good amount of time dodging rain drops running between the buildings. The Christmas store was wall to wall people. The one good thing about the afternoon was that it allowed me a few well needed moments of time away from my friend.
The rain finally stopped right about lunch time, which worked out well for us. We stopped at the Earl of Sandwich, and it was pretty crowded. There wasn't a seat inside anywhere. Luckily we were able to dry off a couple of spots outside of the restaurant by the Once Upon a Toy tree.
I loved the ornaments that looked like Lite Brites. Lite Brite used to be one of my favorite toys as a kid. I'd never turn the light on until every peg was in place.
I'd never been to the Earl of Sandwich. I got the Earl's Club (turkey, bacon, swiss cheese, lettuce, tomato & what they bill as "sandwich sauce"), upon the recommendation of a former CM who was waiting in line in front of us. I was going to order it without the sauce, as I'm not a big condiment fan, but I'm so glad I ordered it as is. It was delicious.
I'm highly saddened by the fact there are no Earl of Sandwich's near me. I think Logan Airport in Boston is the closest place.
After lunch my friend went to finish her shopping, and I headed over to Goofy's to get myself a snack to bring back to the room. I'd always wanted to put together one of those snacks.
I got a vanilla fudge cookie dipped in milk chocolate, rolled in butterfingers and oreo cookie crumbs and drizzled with milk chocolate. Yummm!!!! Here's a close up of my goody.
It was so good. It was huge though. It lasted me several days nibbling on it.
After that it was starting to get late, and we needed to get back to our room to get ready for
MVMCP. It took a bit of work to get my friend to finish up. (She was really enjoying her shopping

). She thought she had everything, and had arranged to have it shipped home when she saw something else. She was too late to add it to her previous package, so we had to wait while Disney ran back to get it and then had to cancel the entire order out to redo and reship.
All the while, I'm nervously watching the clock. We had to wait around for a bus for awhile too, so I was starting to get a bit antsy. We had a 5:20 ADR at the Ohana to get ready for. Our bus showed up in time to get us back to the resort at a decent enough time.
We hadn't hit strike 3 quite yet.
