I got a message this morning from some random guy on my Myspace page. Here it is, (his misspellings - not mine):

I saw you profile and I just had to comment . I don't mean this in a mean way. Without Jesus there is no hope. We are just another piece of meat In the chain of life.
Christ change my life for the better. He is there for you if you ever need Him. He is Real.

Ok - I will admit that my page is not all fluffy and that I lean a little towards the dark. And tomorrow is the opening for Universa'ls Halloween Horror nights so my page has quite a bit on it in anticipation of that, but come on really! Witnessing through Myspace?

It is the whole "piece of meat" thing that really captured my sense of WTH. Would you respond and say anything to this guy if it were you?

I'd delete then block him. People like that just aren't worth the time. If you react, you're giving them what they want.

I would delete and block if I had a page.

Engaging a total stranger on religion, on a "My Space" page, doesn't sound good or fun.:scared:

Eh--I've gotten lots of comments like those on a blog I used to write. I've also gotten lots of horribly offensive stuff about being gay. :sad2: I generally have responded and do so by trying to offer rational arguments as to why there is no God or whatever.

Can you just delete the comment? I've found that responding to these idiots doesn't ever seem to go anywhere. They either don't come back, or they come back and keep spewing their idiocy without taking any account of any of the sensible points you may have made against their viewpoint. It's like arguing on the DIS but 20 times worse! :lmao:

I totally agree! That is why I am kinda ticked about it. I didn't seek him out or put myself in his path - why do christains feel the need to do this kind of stuff.

BTW - his is not the first message I have received about this.

"I don't mean this in a mean way" is right in line with "no offense, but..." :lmao:

Delete and block. :goodvibes

I would delete, block, and probably put up a disclaimer on your page telling people you do not accept/tolerate comments about your religious persuasion.

Because there is a Bible verse that says to go out and convert the whole world. Most take it as "Convert them whether they want it or not.".

Once, while at work, I had a Christian man come up to me and ask if I was going to the free Christian concert downstairs (it was in one of the mall's big open areas where they had Christmas concerts, etc). I told him no, I wouldn't be off in time and even if I were, I wasn't into that kind of thing. He replied, "Well God's into YOU! I guess you haven't found Christ yet?". I tried to keep a straight face when I replied, "Oh yes I have. I tagged him It and now it's my turn to go hide.".:rotfl2:

Love that!

My son had kids approach him at school asking if he would like to join FCA (Fellowship of Christian Athletes). He said no and kept walking down the hall. One of the kids followed him all the way to his next class asking him why he wouldn't join. I am not sure where he got this but his response was:

"Well, I am not a Christian, and I am not an athlete. That just leaves fellowship and this ain't the Lord of the Rings. But thanks anyway!"

:rotfl2:
Great comeback! Just out of curiosity, since you're not a Christian, what are you? UU? Pagan? Neo-something or other? :)

I'd just delete it and block him from sending you any more messages.

A concert in the middle of the mall? Yuck! It wouldn't matter what was going on there, I'm not into that. Crowded malls with high volume levels put me on the verge of a panic attack. Great response though!

But hey, I would rather be a nice peice of meat than an old lump of fat! heheheheee

ok - he has been deleted and blocked. But I wrote up a response anyway - just to make me feel better.

I guess I can appreciate that you believe you are coming from a good place with your comments.

However, I am a long standing atheist and really - I am just finding this need that Christians have to "witness" insulting. I am an intelligent, grown adult and have no need for myths or fairy tales to get me through life.

From now on, could you please consider withholding your "message" unless someone asks for it?

Thank you.

This particular concert was sponsored by a local radio station and was in the middle of the day in the middle of the week during school, so it wouldn't be that crowded. Unless the Christians got wild and rushed the very collapsible stage or something.:scared1: :rotfl2:

Another vote for "delete and block." So not worth your time.

It's difficult to be a "heathen" in a Christian/Jewish community. I respect others' religious beliefs...I just wish they could respect mine.
