Ok, after seeing DVC Mikes photos, I started shopping for a new digital camera...I had 2, a nikon coolpix 5.1megapixel, and a Kodak 5 megapixel...NONE of our pics compared to his, so I started researching...and curious, what do other dvc'rs own for taking pics at the parks...I used one of Mike's pics as wallpaper, it was so good...reviews on his camera, though, were not very good which surprised me...SO, I bought a Cannon SD880.....Ordered today, 10megapixel, and rated at the top of its grouping.....Anyone have this?

We had a minolta/konica Z2 but it died over the summer and went the DSLR route this time.

While we have a small pns minolta that fits in our pocket (don't remember the model but it is old), I bring my DSLR now. It is a Nikon D60.

LOVE IT! Took it on our last trip and the pictures are wonderful compared to our old camera. That being said DSLR is not for everyone. Definitely a LOT bigger than a PNS.

As I learn more about taking pictures I am finding it is not necessarily the camera that is at fault but me. :rotfl:

Good luck with your purchase.

That is exactly the DSLR I want!! I'm so glad to hear you like it so much!!

I have a canon and really like it.

Its 3 or 4 years old now. Its a Canon A90, with only 5 megapixels.

:rotfl2: 5 mp was actually pretty good then.

Mike's pics have inspired me to buy a newer camera before our next trip. I'm looking at the Olympus 1010 with 10.1MP and 7x zoom. I haven't read too much as far as reviews but I think I'm ready to run out and purchase it anyhow.
I'd love to hear what some of our fellow DIS'ers use but maybe that's another thread.

We have a P&S canon SD850 and we just bought ourselves a Sony A300 DSLR camera (love it:thumbsup2 )
The DSLR are so much fun in WDW since there is so much to shoot

Here's a few from our A300

If like to tae pictures, go for Digital SLR camera

I have a Canon sx10 (looks like a SLR) with 20x zoom- excellent pictures. Just came out. I also have a Canon TX1 digital camera that takes 720p videos. And a Olympus stylus 1050 SW for the shock, freeze and water proof situation.
My favorite is the Canon TX1, small and takes great pics and videos. The SX10 takes much better pictures, but video is in .mov format, hate that.

I love that fireworks shot! What slows me down is I really like the little cameras for Disney days..less to lug around..but you guys who lug bigger cameras sure get great shots..and by big I mean anything that won't fit into my little neck purse thingy I wear.

I would like to see some pictures from dark rides like Pirates of the Carribean. Do any of you use a camera that captures the features of this ride without being too blurry or filled with "noise?" If so, what are you using?

Fireworks shot is great.....Do you have that in a larger format? Would make a great background!!

Now, what is this camera?

Luckymommy... I have the olympus 1010 and luv it! My husband got it for me for christmas and I am still learning how to use it... but the pictures I have taken so far I am happy with. I have not tried fireworks or certain fast action picures yet... but of my last couple cameras this one is the most user friendly to use. I am a notorious bad picture taker... so this one gives you alot of options to improve your picture quality.

Unforetunately i have had to reduce the res. to post these on DIS

nappingbeauty...I just sent you a PM.

realfam and cpdwiz...amazing pics!!! :worship:

Could anyone clue me in as to app. how much some of these cameras cost? Mikes photos were amazing. Thanks in advance.

I would suggest anyone interested in buying new camera go to:

http://www.dpreview.com/

I think they have the best information. You can click on the buying guide and choose the cameras to compare side by side. It really helps make comparisons. You can also choose certain features, price, etc. to retrieve a list of qualified cameras.

I have a canon S5IS. Not a DSLR, but I think a very good value. I am aspiring to next buy a Fuji S9000, which is a manual zoom.

There is also a DIS board dedicated to photography...

Good luck to all. :thumbsup2

realfam gorgeous pictures and I love seeing other Sony users. I have an a-900 I am still getting used to and an a-100 I am debating bringing both to WDW but think my DH may kill be if I decide to do that

No offense folks but it is not all in the camera you use. Photographic skill and an eye for composition are more important than which camera you use. That being said digital slr is the best way to go if you can afford it. There are some excellent point and shoot cameras out there but the best ones cost as much as an entry level dslr.

Being a photographer I can't tell you how many times people look at my images and want to know what kind of camera I use. It is kind of like reading a wonderfully written poem and asking what kind of typewriter you use;) !
I'd like to think that my abilities had as much to do with it as the camera! Sorry for the rant, bit of a pet peeve.

Bob... I am the first to admit that photography is a talent... but for those of us seriously lacking in that department... we are just interested in something to at least help us get the best picture possible!!!
