Fellow cruisers...I have sad news...

Hello fellow Disney cruisers....I unfortunately have some sad news....you may remember me as a cancelled cruiser from illness 2 years ago....we are scheduled again to cruise on 12/4/04...but my horrible news is my home burnt down this morning....fortunately my DW and DD got out, but sadly one of our two dogs died and 2 cats died also.....the house is completely destroyed along with all of our Disney parafanalia.....snow globes etc....I am thankful that we have our life....but it is the most horrible thing to happen to us in our lifetime.....see...the black cloud still follows me....sometimes it takes a break....but it always comes back...so now my cruise in December is not a definate....since we don't know how long it will take to rebuild.....pixie dust big time requested our way...and prayers for our dear dog Spanky who is in the emergency vet clinic in intensive care with bad smoke inhalation......I will try to keep anyone interested updated....Thnaks all....

Oh, what terrible news! I'm so glad your family escaped safely (although that's not entirely true, since of course I'm sure your dear pets were part of the family too ).

I am so very sorry to hear of this. What a horrible thing to happen to someone! I can't imagine what you are going through.

Hang on to that trip...don't cancel 'til you absoultely have to. You never know what tomorrow will bring and that trip could be a well deserved and needed break from what you all have been through over that last few years. December's still a way off, so for now, just focus on the family, and how you'll get through this moment and perhaps, in December, you'll get the wonderful Xmas gift that would be your cruise. I will keep you in my prayers and cross my fingers for you.

I have two dogs so I know how you must be feeling at this time.

I will keep your family & Spanky in my prayers. Pixie dust from IL to you & from the Magic I just got off of on Sat. It was our 1st cruise & a much needed deeper level of rest than you can get at WDW. My husband & I had been through a stressful year & a half. That cruise was what we needed. Maybe the cruise can be your X-mas gift to each other as a family in lieu of traditional presents.

Insurance has a way of coming through in instances like this...even though I know it can never be enough to make up for your precious pets & cherished mementos. A family in the community I teach in survived a similar tragedy. Insurance, their time, and a lot of prayers helped rebuild their home & get them on their feet in about 6 months. They also came out of it w/ a unique understanding for what's really important in life--that most of us can't truly appreciate like you can. Most of your precious family is still ok--praise the Lord. Keep the faith!

Just remember the most important memories are etched in your heart & mind already. The fire can never take those away.
