We leave for WDW in 13 days and now we find our flight is 2hrs later than planned. We fly out of Seattle at 9am, have 3hr layover in Denver and then don't land in Orlando until 9:10pm. It will be very late getting to our resort. I need to let TA know if we want to reschedule to leave at 6am, fly to Chicago and get to Orlando at 6pm. If we take the earlier flight, I probably will not get any sleep as we will need to leave for airport around 3am. My sister was going to drive us to airport but I will probably take a cab in the late evening and then try to snooze at the airport.
Question 1 - how is flying into Chicago airport? Are there often weather concerns (we fly on Sept 30)
Question 2 - if we fly on the later flight, should we just grab our own luggage for ME? It may not get there until midnight.

I guess the logical thing is to take the later flight but I am just so darn anxious to get there! I had envisioned a few hours at the resort, enjoying the pool and maybe going to DTD for a late dinner. The next day we have a big day planned for MK.
BTW - thanks for the Birthday wishes today. My sons are both away and only my daughter was here to wish me HB. What a treat to get an email from you guys!!

Well I would take the later flight. I know how hard it is to get to the airport for 3:00am and that is not fun. Usually lots of kids on the flight to Florida so hard to sleep on the plane. By the time you got there to the resort you would want to go to bed anyways LOL. Still 9:10 you could still check into the resort. Explore there gift shop or head to downtown disney it is open really late. If it was me I would take the 9:00 am since you are in BC your time clock will be off anyways and 9:10 would be like 6:10 to you. But the other way I think you might feel more jet lag.

I'm arriving at 9pm. Unless you have to be there earlier I don't see problem with late arrivals.

take the late flight. it is going to be a long enough day, and you will be exhausted anyway, don'tforget to allow early check in time at the airport, allow an hour to get from airport to resort, if you took the earlier flight you would just relax anyway at the hotel. and as it was previously mentioned, the time arriving may help a bit with the jet lag.

have a great trip!

The question is...since it'll be a 3 hour time difference, will arriving at 9 pm (your 6 pm) affect how you'll get a good night's sleep the night you arrive.

I gotta say that I'm pretty anxious to get to WDW anyway so I'll never sleep the night before LOL. I'd take the early flight (call me nuts anytime. :rotfl: ) If you arrive at 6 pm, it's actually only 3 pm your time. Ok, so you didn't get a lot of sleep the night before but this means you'll get to bed earlier that night and be more rested for your big day at MK rather than if you arrived at 9 pm. You'll get time to decompress from the travelling and be relaxed enough to fall asleep. Maybe taking the earlier flight will allow you to adjust to the time difference faster?

I have no idea if this will work for you...but it might and it's a great excuse to get there early. ;)

And flying into Chicago in September shouldn't cause any hardships.

I agree with going early...we are going on a 6:25AM flight out of Toronto (which means a 2:30 wake up call, and a 3:30am arrival at the airport) in December...ok yeah we won't be on the time change, but I love getting there, and we can go to sleep early and be wide awake for the next day.

I'd take the early flight too. We're all up anyways - excited about leaving!!

I'd pick the early flight too, b/c of the time change. It will probably help with the jetlag in the long run. We used to live in Victoria, travelled east a lot, and I find if I really beat myself out the first day, I'll adjust a lot faster. OTOH, as others have pointed out, the change can also work the other way, as it'll only be suppertime to you when you get there, you can still relax, get supper, check out the pool or whatever...though you'll get to sleep later and be more bagged the next day.

The time difference is even bigger for me! I would always take the earlier flight anywhere I was heading - I also don't sleep well the night before (keep checking and rechecking stuff like passports, money, tickets etc.) also, if there's any problems chances are they're only going to get worse.

As someone who travelled to Canada on 13 August I was glad to see my crazy early policy justified - despite being told we would not be let in until 2 hours before the flight we were through security 3 hours before, while those on later flights had to wait in the rain as the tents were full!

Thanks so much everyone. We had decided to go on the earlier flight because we are just so darn anxious to get there and we would have a few hours in the evening to check things out. As it turned out, we cannot get any seats together for the 6am flight and since it is my DD18 and her BF19 (first flight anywhere except for hockey) and myself we thought we would all sit together as planned. The layover in Denver is switched from 1hr to 3hr. Oh, how I would rather have those extra 2hrs at the World  . Oh, well, the TA did make a mistake booking our return flights and she booked them a day later. Instead of CAA paying the penalty she offered to split the hotel cost for if we stayed another day. It didn't take me long to say yes!! pixiedust: pixiedust: pixiedust:
