Am officially hitting the stage of not being able to think of anything other than my upcoming trip to Disney World on March 9th!

My wife organized this trip for me to spend 5 days in the Treehouse Villas for a guy's golf trip for my 40th birthday!

We own at SSR, but this will be my first time in the Treehouse Villas and I am stoked!

I'm taking 2 buddies and my brother with me and all of them are really getting excited as well - funny since most folks simply don't naturally think of Walt Disney World as a guy's trip destination.

We're doing 2 days of golf, and one day at Epcot "touring" the various "refreshment" locations in World Showcase.

We're planning on spending a couple of nights at Downtown Disney - any suggestions on good hang out places there? Seems every time we're there as a family we hit the shops and family restaurants but don't get to really go out.

For me - nothing could be better than this destination! Planning on sharing pics form the trip on the boards since this is a "different" kind of visit than the usual family trip to Disney. Especially some golf pics!

Ok, enough about that. Thanks for letting me post. Simply can't contain the excitement right now!!!

Oh - and thanks Teri (the wife) for this awesome gift - you rock!

Sounds great! I agree not typically a "guys" destination, but I know my husband would love it. Will have to keep that in mind as the big "50" is 2 years away for him. Much more for me, as I am several years younger. ;)

That's awesome. I can't wait for the Trip Report and pictures. Raglan Road in Pleasure Island is a good hang-out with great music and so is the ESPN Club on the Boardwalk. I'm sure you'll do just fine. ;):thumbsup2

Oh! And the lounge area at the Turf Club is good too. And it's convenient to walk to!:goodvibes

Thanks for the suggestions Cee.

Raglan Road is a place we've never been to outside of walking past it. So sounds like a good night time hangout.

The Turf Club sounds like an after round of golf visit when we play Lake Buena Vista Golf Course at SSR on Thursday!

Now that Pleasure Island is in midst of changes, guess there's no place for live music around DTD?

Have you thought about Paradiso 37 at DTD. I think they have live music most evenings. The advertise the coldest beer on property.
Raglan Road is beautiful!!!! There is live music every night starting around 8 PM. There is also an Irish step dancer. It is really a beautiful bar/restaurant and lots of fun

Since you golf, maybe you or some of your buddies enjoy cigars. Stop in at Sosa's Cigar and grab a couple of good sticks. Head over to their bar across from Harley Davidson and grab a table outside. Adult beverages, good cigars, great atmosphere and don't have to worry about offending the wife when done. What could be better?

Jim

Jim,

Good suggestion! I think that is a definite stop for us one night.

Thanks!

Speaking of cuban cigars, Bongos at DTD Westside has GREAT music! :thumbsup2

Looks like we won't be bored at Downtown Disney!

I had half wondered whether I'd need to plan an evening over at Universal CityWalk to make sure folks aren't bored....but we can effectively have a completely different experience each night over at DTD.

As for Paradiso 37 - my wife and I ate there and it's definitely on the list of places to grab dinner!

Now any suggestions on correcting a slice?

Head over to Port Orleans Riverside and check out Yehaa Bob if he's playing while you are there. He's so awesome and the show is sooo sooo good. Link to his website so you check out his schedule:

I love Yehaa Bob.

As for the slice, do you breath in or breath out on your downstroke?

As far as correcting the slice, I think the activities at DTD may work to a certain extent. If you stay out long enough you won't golf, slice corrected.

I hold my breathe and close my eyes.... doesn't everyone?

As for Port Orleans - very good idea! In fact, I hadn't even thought of other resort places we could visit and Port Orleans is right next to SSR!

Might also be worthwhile to catch a bus from DTD over to Boardwalk and visit ESPN Zone like someone else mentioned.

So now that we're opening things up..... any other good places to visit at resorts?

I think we're gonna need more days....

While you're touring Epcot...Rose and Crown for some English refreshments. If your tastes include tequila, I understand there is a new tequila focused bar in Mexico (can't vouch for it).

I will also add my pitch for Raglan Road -- good food, entertainment, and some mighty fine single malts and whiskeys.

Have a great time!

Cava De Tequila is where we're starting our beverage tour of the world at Epcot in fact! Now this is one place the wife and I have been (sans kids) which we can vouch for....good times.

The courses we're playing are Lake Buena Vista and the Magnolia course (will be first time I play Magnolia) so we'll work hard to make sure the festivities don't interfere with a couple of good rounds of golf.

I love resort-hopping and enjoying an adult beverage at the different lounges/pool bars. Some folks do the "Monorail Crawl" through CR, Poly and GF.:thumbsup2 Plus, it allows you to tour resorts you haven't seen yet.:goodvibes

We shared a TreeHouse with some friends a couple years ago.

We had a BLAST going to a local grocery store and picking up some burgers, sausages, etc, and grilling out there right at the treehouse. The grill is right at the base of your stairs. ...My husband brought his guitar, and we had a great time sitting out on the deck.

...Just a thought. We're really looking forward to getting together to do it again, soon.
