does anyone have problems with feet, heels and pretty much the whole foot? having for a while now --- and all I cn think of is how WILL I WALK DAY and night @ WDW?

:(

I know flip flops are out, i bought the brace, i bought insoles ---- HELP!

Mds only want to use cortisone it seems.

Bring a pair of sandals for walking to the pool and around the resort, but also make sure to bring a couple of pairs of well broken in sneakers. Also when you get back to the resort at night it is good to soak your feet and use some mentholated foot cream it helps sooth your feet for the next day.

thnx Pluto. Mentolated cream for feet?? who knew! Is it sold at drugstore?

Soak feet in Epsom salts/water. Go easy on the mentholated cream. I once used a minty foot lotion and I decided if a little was good then more must be even better. It wasn't- my feet were so cold to the point of being extremely uncomfortable. I believe it made the blood vessels in my feet shrink and I wasn't getting enough circulation. I wasn't in the medical field at the time if I had been I would have gone to the doctors knowing how dangerous it could be.

Ok, will do this. Do people soak in epsom salt often?

Your feet are your feet, and all feet are different. My feet used to be a lot worse (85+ extra pounds will do that to a person) but my basic foot truths are the same for me. For me I swap between good running shoes and Crocs Athens flip flops. For others, flip flops are impossible. You have to know your feet.

I used to soak my feet (and sometimes body) in Epsom salts every night of a themepark trip. If I didn't, the next day I was the walking wounded.

If you buy from publix, don't go to the fancy bath stuff aisle; you'll get a $5 half pound bag of lavender stuff. Go to the "embarrassing aisle" near the pharmacy, remembering that Epsom is also used for "irregularity". There you will get a multi-pound bag of plains salts for a couple bucks. Way better.

I have a great pair of Birkenstocks that I use. Comfortable shoes are a requirement for all day walking. Make sure if you use sandals they have a back strap to help hold them on your feet.

Is it heel spurs? Plantar Fasciitis? I have had both in the past, sometimes anti-inflamatories help, but in the long run, using a frozen water bottle and rolling it under the foot for half an hour at least once a day, twice if you can calms down the inflammation. My foot dr also gave me stretching exercises, and I used an incline foot rest at work to keep the ligament across the heel stretched out. They told me never to go barefoot even around the house, I still do occasionally but invested in some really good sheepskin slippers that I wear most of the time at home.

Make sure you have shoes with good arch support (good for your particular foot)

I get terrible feet pain. It's gotten worse thru the years. I think being a nurse and pounding those concrete floors everyday is partly to blame. I think I have heel spurs also. I wear Birkenstocks @ WDW. I still get pain/discomfort but not as bad as if I wore sneakers. I heard of a brand called orthoheel. Sold on QVC. My mother got me a pair of their slippers for Christmas for a try out. I'm liking them a lot so far. They sell flip flops, shoes and sneakers.

I have severe heel spurs. Before I went to WDW 3yrs ago I bought a pair of ECCO yukatan (I think that was the style name) from The Walking Co. They were pricey @109 but by far the best shoes I ever wore.

I wanted sandals because sneakers are no fun when wet. I'm actually thinking about getting a new pair. I'm still wearing the pair from summer 2009.

I have neuropathy in my feet and legs so burning/tingling is also an issue. On a recent trip, I wore Teva Teirra sandals (usually only do high end New Balance sneakers for lots of walking but the cushion of these sandals worked well). We went to the parks for opening most days so the lines were not bad, then back to the resort to rest/swim midday, then back to the park at nights.

Be sure to take bench breaks while in the park. It is easy to forget to take a break until the pain is out of control.

If you want to do foot soaks on your break, you can pick up a dish pan at the dollar store and pack clothes or whatever into it so it does not take up much room. I buy a footsoak product rather than Epsom Salts. The Body Shop has tree trea oil ir peppermint. The peppermint is suppose to be cooling but since I cannot feel my feet, it is the same to me.

Good luck!

I have bad feet. I have very flat wide feet and not in shape. My dd also has very flat feet (but she is in excellent shape) and getting over archilles tendonitis. We both wore Clark Wave Sandals which have arch support for our entire 1 week trip to Disneyland this summer. We didn't bring any other shoes. We were at the parks at opening until at least 9pm 5 days and neither of us ever had sore feet.

I suffer from Plantar Fasciitis, so foot pain is something I can identify with. I agree with the previous poster who said a frozen water bottle that you roll under your arch at night is great. Walking around barefoot/sockfoot is also a complete no-no, so don't forget your house shoes. I wear night braces (for PF), which also help a lot. They are about $35 on Amazon. I still have pain, but it is not NEARLY as bad as it used to be.

I hope you have a great trip and it is as pain free as possible. :thumbsup2

Yes a cortisone shot may save you all the trouble ( and save you money in tbe end). Consult a podiatrist because you may also need a custom molded shoe or shoe insert.

I had terrible foot pain the last time I was at WDW. It was horrible! What worked for me was sticking with sneakers, icing the soles of my feet twice each day, and stretching my feet twice each day on the stairs at our hotel. I was able to get through the full 2 weeks using this regimen. Good luck!

Good luck finding what helps you best. Foot pain can really take away your enjoyment of many things. I have plantar fasciitis. I keep golf balls in the freezer to roll my feet on, similar to the frozen water bottle. Regular calf stretches are a huge help.

thanks, i know :((( so upset and worrying about disney! ic an't stand it!

what kind of stretches do you do? was told a few different versions,,,, and i'm so curious what the calf has to do with our foot pain too! o my heck!

I have foot pain. MY issue is a very very high arch, not flat feet. Which triggers plantar fasclitis.

I wear Crocs as much as I can. I know, they look awful to most people. They were recommended by the foot dr. They do not "help" everyone, I think it depends on the source of the problem. I also wear sneakers made for my particular foot problem, Asics makes many types for various situations.

I have tried othrodics but they hurt, I will try again with them when my insurance allows it.
