Headed to WDW in about three weeks. I have some BodyGlide, that I have tried on my feet, but have found that the stuff makes my feet slick and causes the socks to rub even worse.

Maybe I am an idiot, but how is that supposed to help, when the inside of my sock gets slick?

I am not an expert but maybe some foot powder instead, if you are wearing socks, I would suggest a good pair of socks such as smart wool or new balance moisture wicking or blister preventing socks and good supportive shoes, I have bought a small container of anti-blister from avon but I haven't tried it yet Good Luck!:thumbsup2

I swear by body-glide when im at disney. even under clothing and with socks for example, it still really works. you've actually tried it at home first? if not, i would do that. The product works very well. Heck, if marathon runners use it, surely it must be good! ;)

you should try BlisterShield, This stuff works great. Easy to use and will stop all your blisters. They are really cool as well, I wanted to try it before i bought it and I called them and they sent me a free sample to try. 2toms.com is there website.

After you have applied a layer to your feet, let the product dry a little. Don't put your sock right on. After you've given it a minute or two put your sock on and you should be good to go. It is going to feel a little slick but trust me it works!!!

This is good advice. If you still have problems, try a different product instead. I've used Monistat anti-chafing cream with great results - it dries to a kind of powdery finish, rather than being "slick."

If you wear good socks and well fitting shoes you should not get blisters. Too large of shoe and thin socks can do this. We all wear good (Gold Toe) socks and well fitting (not cheap) athletic shoes and NEVER get blisters. The only time I ever get blisters is if I wear sandals or other shoes without socks/hose. Especially shoes that don't fit correctly.

Body glide just makes my feet stick to my sandals.

I agree with the others a good pair of shoes and socks are key. I usually apply come foot powder on my feet and have never got a blister. We have been about 25 times.

Having feet that are the same shape as your shoes is wonderful and will prevent blisters, agreed.

Unfortunately guys, not all of us have feet that are built to the specifications of mass-produced shoes. And not all of us have two feet that are even the same size. (Yep. I'm an 8 on one foot and a 9.5 on t'other. :rotfl: And except for, I think, the Nike N7's, shoes aren't designed for my foot shape.)

We just have to make do with what we can.

I can also say that, in a pinch, roll-on and clear anti-perspirants make great blister blockers.

I really do swear by moleskin though. Love that stuff.

Bump! Thanks for the tips. I got a few bad blisters on my last trip and before a couple weeks ago, I had never heard of body glide. I need to get some and try it out. Also, I think I may bring a little bottle of powder to keep in my backpack with me in case it's needed.

It does the same thing, but is not the same. BodyGlide antichafing comes in a much bigger tube, is clear, and works all day. The bandaid friction block comes in a very tiny tube and requires reapplication during the day. If I'm going over to Universal where I'll be riding the water rides at IoA alot then I pack the bandaid blister block to reapply after the water rides just as a precaution. That's the only time I use it. That little tube wouldn't last more than a day or two otherwise and besides the bodyGlide works better. The bandaid blister block is so small it will fit into any bag or pocket so I'll carry it over to Universal as a backup for the Body Glide I applied that morning. I've forgotten it though, rode the water rides over and over, got soaked, and still didn't chafe or get blisters, so it probably isn't really necessary though.

I second everything above, except for the antiperspirant as I haven't tried that yet myself. We both buy good quality shoes and good quality socks, however, my husband has issues with his feet that shoes or socks alone will not fix. I am in the same boat as above where my one foot is a half to full size smaller than the other. So my foot will always slide a little as the day goes on and the shoe loosens up.

Moleskin and CoolMax socks worked well on our last trip :) My husband only got 1 blister on his most problematic toe. It was a miracle!

This time we were thinking of trying the bodyglide/chafing cream/deodorant method. The moleskin was pretty awesome, but it is a little thick and can't cover all the areas well. Hopefully the little extra boost from the lubricant will help and we can reserve the moleskin for just the most severe areas. Thanks for the tip about giving it a few minutes to dry!

Last August when we went to WDW my husband got AWFUL blisters on his feet. I wore flip flops and used antiperspirant under and between my toes, and didn't get even one blister.

Two weeks ago when we went back, DH faithfully used antiperspirant on his feet like I did. He also wrapped his toes in Lamb's Wool (wrapping around every other toe). He didn't get one blister! I'm sure the Lamb's Wool helped (though he had used that last year too....not sure if it was before or after the blisters), but he is now a believer in antiperspirant on your feet - wherever you tend to blister.

Happy Walking!

Best tip I learned from the DIS--aerosol deodorant. It's cheaper than Body Glide and I've found it to be even more effective to prevent blisters on every part of my feet. Our annual trip is always 10-13 days of park hopping and I haven't had a blister since I tried it.

Hi, new guy but I am a marathon runner.
Sock choice is the single most important thing. Most people fall for the notion (and I saw it mentioned once above) that not-thin "quality" socks are good. This isn't true...they are why people need to use glide and antiperspirant on their feet. Good socks wick away moisture and evaporate it. This keeps your feet cool and even more importantly, dry. Smartwool, Balega, DeFeet, Teko and Drymax (to name a few) make socks that are cool, comfortable, striking looking and will keep your feet dry.

1400 miles on my feet last year and not one blister.

I used to get REALLY bad blisters on my feet by the end of our trips. Body Glide has saved me for 3 trips in a row now. I find that good fitting shoes and socks, along with a liberal application of Body Glide to any part of my feet that rub is an amazing thing. I also bring two pairs of shoes and lots of good socks. I have daytime shoes and nighttime shoes and use a fresh pair of socks and fresh application of Body Glide after a shower each afternoon. Not one blister in 3 trips!

We use Suave anipersperant/deodorant spray and it works like a charm. We use it on our bare feet in sandals and crocs. Works like a charm and in 6 years we have had no hot spots or blisters.

My question is how people get the moleskin to stay on. It never lasts long when my kids feet start sweating. Is there a trick? Thanks!

Use the Body Glide sparingly and rub it in, don't do too heavy a coating. I wear moisture wicking socks, so that may help as well as far as the friction goes.
