Having never been to orlando i rang the travel agent just to clear up a couple of things on my invoice. She told me the only things i will have to pay when i get there are resort fees and transfers to and from i drive from orlando international.Any ideas how much the resort fees are and whats the best way to do the airport transfers

thanks

Wayne

Fees will depend on where you are staying and resort transfers again will depend on where you're staying.

If you are staying onsite at Disney, you can do Disney Magic Express, where they will pick you up from the airport and take you to the disney resort. If staying offsite, it will depend on how many of you there are as to whether it will be cheaper to pay the travel agents' transfer fee or catch a cab.

So, the question is, where are you staying, how many of you are travelling and which travel agent are you with?

Hi
i will be staying at the best western plaza on i drive
myself and my 2 daughters
booked through kenwood travel
thought i was booking a virgin package but it turns out i just have virgin flights
and a hotel for 2 weeks.
should be ok just never been over to america and dont realy know what to expect
thanks

Resort tax could be anything from a couple of $ a day to about 10 $. I just checked to see if I could find anything about Best Western's resort tax but it's not in any of my brochures. TBH, we stayed at Quality Inn last year and didn't pay any resort tax, even though we were told it was $7 a day.

For transfers, if you're not hiring a car, you might try Florida Tours or Mears. Both do return transport from the airport to hotel, which you can pre-book. If you're flying in to MCO, you'll probably be looking at about $100 return.

There is a transportation board on here so you might want to ask a specific question there about resort transfers.

Hope you have a good time.

We stayed at the Best Western Plaza and the only thing we paid extra for was about $1 / day for the room safe. Can't recall having to pay a resort fee or any tax.

I know the Swan/Dolphin used to charge a resort fee of $10 per day, but it's stopped that now.

Last year we only paid 30$ each way for a taxi from MCO to the wyndham orlando not for from the best western. it was much quicker and easier than waiting for the mears transport that was included in our package (when we went to the mears desk they were quoting a 50 min wait and we were very tired and i was pregnant!). The taxis are very large and easily accommodated 4 adults and 4 very large suitcases. This was by far a much nicer and more civilised way to travel.

hope this helps

Hi wayne1970,
When to you go?
We go out in 13 days and the BW Plaza is where we are staying.
If you go after us, I'll let you know on the room tax.
I'm not sure on the cost from Sanford to I-Drive as we are hiring a car.

Our resort fees have always been about $2-$3 a day, but it does depend on the hotel. We always stay on I-Drive, and always get a taxi and it's never cost us more than about $35-$40 each way, and no hassle waiting around for buses with all your luggage! :sunny:

Hi
sorry i took so long to reply had a long day at work
we dont go out til april
i am just trying to plan well ahead so we dont get any nasty shocks when we get out there
will you let me know what the hotel is like when you get back
thanks

Hi Wayne

I booked return transfers through my travel agent and it cost £18 return for each adult and is with Mears Transportation. We used them last time we went too and only had a 10 minute wait although our flight arrived at Orlando International after 10pm (I book flights and hotels separate not a package deal).

I'm staying at BW Movieland this time (Quality Inn International last time) and don't go until the end of Sept but can let you know the wait etc when I come back if it'll help.

As for resort tax we didn't pay anything except $1 per day each for the housekeeping staff but that was QII.
