We booked our rooms at BCV 10 months ago for a trip that's now 33 days away, and from a financial standpoint, this one is a winner. Room is covered with points, we got an amazing deal on flights and were able to book with mostly miles, and this is our 3rd trip with our PAPs, so we have no tickets to buy. Additionally, now my sister is joining us for 5 nights in our 2br (lockoff), she and her husband are awesome and will help us tremendously with the kids, and even though I didn't ask for any money she just sent me a $1000 gift card! We have other family coming and she was trying to join us "last minute" and there was not even one night available on cash at BCV or BC.

Of course I realize we spent a lot of money on the PAPs, the points are not "free" and the untold fortunes we've spent at WDW definitely balance this out, but I'd be lying if I didn't say that this feels pretty cool. We will probably spend another $1000 out if pocket for our 9 days.

And to all the accountants out there who are chomping to tell me the actual cost of my trip, please let me remain blissfully ignorant!! :p

It sure would feel "free" to me too. Enjoy and congrats that it is coming together so well.

I'm with you--your trip is "free" (or low-cost) and to heck with the "investment costs!"

Reminds me of my 5-night June trip...points for the villa, Disney Visa reward dollars for food & spending money, AP, and miles for the air fare (there was a $30 fee to book w/miles)...a friend provided rides to/from the airport at home, and of course ME from Orlando to Disney & back...

So, that was my $30 trip to Disney--no foolin'--

No, purchase price of the points, maintenance fees, cost of the goods & services put on my Visa do NOT count!

Aren't these freebie trips wonderful!!!!

just think: if you had actually won a WDW trip, it would've likely been at a value, for only about half of your nine days with only 4-5 day non-hoppers, and wouldn't have included the wonderful company of your extended family....

your actual vacation is even better :thumbsup2

(for us, using DVC points, SWA RR miles, PAPs, & Disney Visa rewards, vacations cost about the amount of our rental car - which we usually get a fantastic deal on :) )

congrats on being a winner!!!

If you won, you would have paid taxes! So you did better then winning!

Have a great time!! :cool1:

I feel the same way about our august trip this year, stay OKW on points did parks on left over tickets , and did the meal plan . We stay 5 nights and spent less than 600.00 for the over trip . pretty good for Disney .

This is why we love DVC, When we go on other trips it makes me hate to spend money on Hotels. Like you said even though its technically not free, I love planning a Vacation and only having to worry about saving and budgeting for spending money and travel to WDW. So in our minds its like the hotel (which usually is the most expensive part) is free. Glad I am not the only one with the free DVC stay mentality.

I AM an accountant and I totally understand where you are coming from. :)
I consider the other costs "sunk" so enjoy the "free" vacation!!
