I know that I have ruffled a few feathers on this board; but I am curious to see what everyones feelings are about this.

I'll give you my personal experience :

Out of control 17 year old nephew, decided that he wanted to be 17 and in the 9th grade again. He has been uncooperative and ran up a $1200 cell phone bill. He has been suspended from school countless times and steals from others. He has admitted to drinking, drugs, and unprotected sex.

His high school suggested the YCP so he could receive his GED in five months and receive discipline. He is in a mini boot camp enviroment and is supervised 24 hours a day.

We did find out that if he decided to join the military after he completes this program that he would be allowed to enter as an E2 instead of an E1.

What are your views on this topic?? Do you agree with this or believe that a bootcamp enviroment is not a place for a teen from age 16 - 19???

Thanks!

You know I honestly don't know but I can give you an example.

A nephew of a friend did this. He was out of control at home, the same as you said, drinking, drugs, sex and absolutly no self control. His parents were at their wits end with him and sent him to this very program.

He came back a changed child. Its been 3 years ago now and he has had the same job for 2 years, hes now engaged to be married and is a settled and happy young man.

I'm sure like with everything else that the outcome varies but it was the best thing that ever happened to Matt. He would probably be dead today if not for that program.

Beauty - we are hoping for the same results - our nephew doesn't feel that he is responsible for anything and that everyone will take care of him and he won't have to worry about the reprocussions.

Yep that was Matt.

I believe he wrecked 3 trucks before going away. It worked miracles for him!
