If you're on a laptop or don't have a number keypad, you can use the Windows Character Map to insert symbols.
Start -> Programs -> Accessories -> System Tools
Just pick the symbol you want, choose Copy and then come here & paste it.
Besides the Mickey ears ºOº my favorite is the ¢ - very handy for when you want to throw your 2¢ in
