First off let me say that I had posted on different Disney board asking questions about SOG. Everyone, and I mean "EVERYONE" all replied that we were making a huge mistake staying at SOG instead of a "Disney" resort. Well when our family went to WDW previously we stayed in deluxe resorts. Last trip we deceided to bring our neice and grandneice so I wasn't sure about where to stay. I am retired AF and dh said to just do what I wanted. After checking the price at the Polynesian for two adjoining rooms I said to dh,"How bad could it be staying at SOG"?? I reserved 2 adjoining rooms SOG and we had a wonderful time. Instead of spending $600.00 (plus tax) a night for 2 rooms at the Polynesian we spent $200 a night including tax. Yes, the theming was different but then again the theming is different at all Disney resorts. Our niece and grandniece had a wonderful time and thoughly enjoyed the pools, room service, fridge, and shopping at SOG. BTW, with all the money dh and I saved we were able to treat them to 10 days worth of park tickets, souvenirs, and pay for all of their food. It was a great decision to stay at SOG. I hope everyone who has a chance to stay at SOG does with a great feeling of anticipation. Don't worry about that "MAGIC" feeling. We had all the magic in the world just knowing we had an opportunity to have family with us and being able to do everything we wanted and more. :cool1: :sunny: :flower: So if anyone ever has any doubts about staying at SOG please know that it was wonderful. :sunny:

Glad you had a great time!

We stayed at SOG back in April of 1998 and I agree, it's a very nice resort. Nicely kept, very clean, good location, and extra big rooms. It's a great deal!

That is some real magic! :flower: So glad you all had a wonderful time.

If anyone has any questions in regards to SOG please feel free to ask! I was told to book two "Value" Disney resorts so I could get the "feeling". Dh and I visited(not stayed) at *** and Pop. The three rooms the CMs showed us at the Value resorts made the deal for us to stay at SOG. Granted, SOG is not the same as GF but is hands down better than any value or moderate. You cannot beat the price, location, SERVICE with a smile, dining options, and the quick shop. We bought fresh fruit, milk, snickie snacks, beer and souviniers at a reasonable price. I bought a Team Mickey fleece jacket and pants that was on sale for 60% off the price I saw in MK the year before. I usually go shopping at the "Off Price" shopping venues and I did find that we saved so much more in the SOG Affes store than the other off Disney places. :cool1: :flower: :sunny: So everyone please have a great time and believe me when I say "NO WORRIES". :flower:

I agree, our family has never felt like we were missing any "Disney" feeling. I actually like coming back to the hotel after a long day at the parks and hanging out by the pool, it always seems so peaceful. My DS also likes the pool. I can't think of one bad thing about SOG, our trips have always been wonderful staying there.

Thanks for the review! We've always loved SOG and would stay there again in a heartbeat! :sunny:

Thanks for the great review. My DH and I will be staying at SoG in October and I can't wait. How was the food and bus service? Thanks. :earsboy: :earsgirl:

I happened to stay at SOG last September and enjoyed it very much. One of the best secrets of SOG, IMHO, is their dinner buffets - much cheaper than buffets at other Disney resorts with great food. The only drawback on my stay, and it is a nit, is that SOG is spread out and my room was at a far end of the resort, making it a long walk to the parking garage/restaurant. But I would definitely stay there again.

We didn't use the bus service but walked to the Polynesian to catch the monorail when we went to MK or Epcot. We drove to the other parks. The restaurants were good and plentiful. We really enjoyed the Italian restaurant but had to get a reservation. It was no problem. They also have desks set up for guest relations in the hallway by the ticket center. They were very helpful getting us PS for a lot of Disney restaurants and buffets. Hope you all have a great time. Enjoy! :flower:

I'm glad you had a wonderful time and loved SoG! I agree, I would have a hard time spending the money on a WDW deluxe when SoG is available, but for our family, we still prefer WDW mods. Perhaps when the kids are bigger, we'll go back to SoG.

WE love SOG too.....although my kids would love to stay at more WDW places but this time we are staying 7 nights SOG and 3 nights at CSR...with over flow rate. SO they get some of that WDW resort magic still.
