Feeling sick...is it a cold or what?

I have been feeling somewhat under the weather since last Saturday. I figured it was just a little cold, took some medicine, and went on my way. Sunday I felt slightly worse but nothing I couldn't handle. Monday I felt fine, then Tuesday felt icky again with a sore throat. Yesterday I felt like I got hit with a ton of bricks. Runny nose, sore throat, headache, easily fatigued, coughing up phlem, (gross I know! :scared1:) tired, groggy, ect. Today is the same minus the sore throat, but I feel like I'm burning up. We have our windows open but it its not hot outside. I can't find the thermometer so I can't take my temp, but I've felt like this all day.

I usually get sick this time of year due to end of semester stress from my summer classes, but except for the time I got mono, it was never this bad. I've been trying to sleep, but find that it's just too hot to. Should I let this pass, or should I get it checked out?

Usually when I get a cold it starts with a sore throat (or a tired feeling, then a sore throat).

If you're feeling that bad, you should go to the doctor, but if it's the flu it's probably too late for you to get treatment. It will most likely just have to run it's course.

I would get a strep test. Sounds like more than a cold.

I wouldn't rule out pneumonia either. I would run into an urgent care somewhere.

My son had a cold that sounded just like this. He is now into his third week and it the last of it is leaving.

He never had a fever, but he felt either hot or cold. His body ached for the first few days. He had tons of mucous, a VERY productive cough and there were a few moments that I thought I should take him to his doctor but I never did. It doesn't happen often but I've had bad colds that are awful. For the record though, if you do go to the doctor or urgent care, they will probably give you something.

My husband had the same illness about a week prior to my son getting it. He ran to the doctor at about Day 4 and the doctor diagnosed him with bronchitis and gave him an antibiotic. It didn't work and it had to run its course as my son's did.

Yes, this is going around our area big time. Seems everyone you talk to has it. LOts go to the Dr for it and are told it is a virus and needs to run its course. Same symptoms you are experiencing and it lasts FOREVER. Lots of people are already on week 3!

good luck, Hope you feel better.

Yeah, I forgot to mention this in my last post. It seems like everyone had it a few weeks ago and seems to have run its course in our area.

With the symptoms plus fatigue, sounds like a sinus infection to me. Go to the doc!

Thanks everyone! I actually feel a lot better today after sleeping a TON yesterday. However, the cough is still there (and is still productive), I'm wheezing slightly when I breathe, and I am still stuffed up.

I will probably go to the doctor this afternoon. I am thinking it may or may not be bronchitis, which I may or may not get something for. Seems like a lot of people around here are coming down with something as well.
