OK, I am not a Disney expert as I have only been once but in planning for my next visit this august I am feeling a little shut out :confused3 . Free dining has been offered to the UK and now to US Disney Visa Cardholders. I know they expect it to be open to the general public on Thursday but will there be any value rooms left??

Just venting - no need to respond- just feeling disappointed and hoping us Canadians have a chance on Thursday.

I hear ya...

My wife and I were all excited this weekend, deciding which resort to pick (POP would probably be the one), but I'm feeling sad now to see some people reporting that some resorts are sold out already.

Hopefully they have a X number of packages for Visa cardholders and they will have Y for the general public.

I know I'll be on the phone at 6:30 AM on Thursday to try to make a reservation. We want to go from Sptember 8th to the 16th, ONLY if there's free dining.

Same boat here... we're ONLY going if there is free dining. At this rate though, doesn't look like like any rooms will be left. :sad2: We Canadians are getting forgotten. Just hope I don't have to tell my kids the Disney vacation is off this year... :sad2:

Last year they offered to Visa card holders first then the general public and they had to extend the date you could book by because they didn't sell out so I am feeling confident that we will get what we want on Thursday.

I also think that a certain # are set aside this morning and more will be released on Thursday.

You might have to bit a bit flexible on your resort though. I am will to take any moderate then down grade to any value after that.

Hope you're right! I just called Disney to see if there was a way Canadians could get in on the early action... very nice CM, but no way Jose! :rotfl2: Now I'll just have to wait til Thursday. :surfweb: Good luck to you all (maybe we could do a happy dance together if all goes well :woohoo: ).

I'm considering a quicky trip if we can get free dining, any All Star Resort and cheap airfare. I'm not telling my family....it will be a surprize. S

Ditto.. was I said it was unfair since we cannot have US credit card.. let alone a specific Disney Visa one:sad1:

Last year, my DMil decided to come on the last day of the extended date and had no problems getting a room at the value resort.

I was just going to start a thread saying the same thing!!

I am feeling totally bummed and left out. Not fair. They should have a special Canadians code!!

I hope we can get into Pop on thursday....we will see!!

Good Luck to you all, hope you get what you want!

I think you'll be fine:)

Remember, the DIS is waaaaayyy ahead of everybody else, when it comes to new WDW stuff:teeth:

And even though it feels like everyone and their uncle is booking FD today, it isn't:)

And someone calling to book a resort for say, Aug27-Sept1 at ASMovies, standard room, and a CM tells them it's sold out, doesn't mean that it's "completely" sold out either.

Just one night in that group, at that room preference, at that code could be....which means that the CM can't book the whole timeframe that someone called for..
And people's plans change, meaning inventory can change too..literally from minute to minute:)

We called for Christmas, and told no POP, ASMovies, or Sports was available, at our AP rate.

"ALL Sold Out"

We booked Music.

Called 2 weeks later...POP, preferred...available for our whole time frame:)

HTH! and makes you feel a little better:)

:sunny:

We're hoping to go for Halloween this year, haven't been for 4 years. Last time we were supposed to go it was for my 40th birthday, had to cancel 2 days before we were leaving because it was hurricane season and that was the year it was very bad. There was one hurricane after another coming up through our driving route.
So, my pet peeve is that Disney is offering "free dining" during hurricane season - been there, done that - No Thank You!
I know some have gone during that time and everything is fine. (We drive) For me, being at my happy place for my 40th birthday was very important and to have to cancel left a very bad taste in my mouth and I will never ever attempt to go at that time of year again.
Just my 2 cents :goodvibes
P.S - what happened to the good ol days of great room codes coming out every couple of months and specials for Canadians. I was looking at my receipts the other day from when we were there in 2003 and I paid $55.00 a night for All Star Movies. WOuld love to see that happen again.

Why should they? They aren't giving deals to people because they like them better or don't like them at all. The have identified the late summer/early fall as times when attendance is lower, so they are coming out with strategies to boost attendance in the parks and the restaurants.
If in their ongoing market research they come to the conclusion that Canadians are not visiting as often as in past years, then I am willing to bet that there will be deals offered to get those numbers back up.
Disney doesn't 'owe' us Canadians a darn thing. It is an American company based in the USA, not north of the border.

Whow!!! I was just saying it would be nice if we got a special perk every now and then! The UK was offered free dining monthes ago, now the US Visa holders are getting it. It would be nice if we got some special consideration!!

Sounds like you are getting all riled up at me! I was just making 'conversation' on a thread where we were talking about feeling left out! I wasn't whining or getting bitter at Disney!

Actually, we have received perks in the past.

I recall numerous 'at par' offers and most recently the "FREE park hopper and water parks and more ticket option plus a little sprinkle of pixie dust in savings" offer which was good for travel January/February 2007 was offered to Canadians only over 2 WEEKS before it was offered to the rest of the world...

Woah, take it easy! :sad2: They were just saying they would love to get a chance to book early like the UK or Disney Visa card holders (which we as Canadians can NOT apply for). No ill will intended, just some conversation among people who love DW. :)

Maybe Disney will open up more rooms when the general public is allowed to book on Thursday. You guys should send Disney an e-mail about being leftout.
