Feeling Nostalgic about the Fastpass System

Does anyone else yearn for that time before fastpasses - where you got there at park opening and raced to the most important ride on you list and just waited for it. Now we get there at park opening and race to the fast pass machine and then find something else to do until our window....

No. You don't have to move on. I get a fastpass and then ride that ride two or three times until I can get another one.

Not at all. I find that FP has increased my enjoyment of the parks immensely.

I miss it and I miss how you didn't have to walk as much. Now if you want to ride Splash Mountain in the afternoon and you're in Tomorrow Land you have to walk across the park to get a FP. Overall it saves no time, sure you get on the ride faster when you have a FP but when you go through the regular lines while waiting to use your FP you're waiting longer because you're waiting for all the people who have FP's.

What I miss is first thing at Epcot opening is racing to the bottom of Space Ship Earth to try and make a reservation at one of Epcot's restaurants for that day. Good times. Who needs this new fangled making reservations online months ahead of time?

Ummm....no. Not in the slightest. Rather, you should ask yourself whether you feel nostalgic for those "good old days" when you stood out in the sun for over an hour in line for Splash in the middle of June....

My first visit to Disney was Spring Break when I was 15. I was there for a school competition and so were about 400,000,000 other people. 2 hour waits for everything. No thank you.

~No. I love FastPass and I can't wait for FastPass+, lol. But, you are not alone in the anti-fastpass movement, I've seen many posters express similar opinions.

Fast Pass is the best thing that has ever happened to the parks. I do not miss a time before FP, no way no how! We probably spend more time now enjoying the "little things" and taking time to "smell the roses" because we are not just sitting in line.

ITA Even with the new enforcement rules I still find it to be a major plus.

No way. I remember hating the lines as a kid, and being so happy about Fastpass when I came back as an adult with my kids. I wouldn't go to Disney without FP.

Seems like most folks, at least those on this thread, are pro FP. Not to hijack but who is optimistic that the next gen FP will add to the experience?

Do you also miss outhouses and whiskey anesthesia? FP is worth its weight in gold.

We don't use FPs often, so I kind of see what the OP is saying. There is some value to experiencing some of the queues (the cool ones, LOL). We tour the parks section by section, and I admit we do use FPs when a line is crazy long and we think we might be back later. In general, though, we have more luck with EMH and simple timing than we do with FPs.
