So after my ill-fated submarine excursion I have been feeling motion - nothing more than that wobbly still moving feeling - but I do not like it. SO should I start taking more meds? Just wait and see?

Onboard I switched from Dramamine chewables to the BONINE after the rocky submarine and stopped taking meds the morning we left the ship - so any advice? It is worse when I sit and gone when I move - what did you do?

Need you advice - please!!!!! 2 days post cruise

i felt like the contemporary was on its own boat after my first 4 day cruise for about a day and a half! :) after about 2 days it was gone on its own...

is it any better or EXACTLY as bad as at first? if i weren't barfing, i would ease off the extra meds just in case those were screwing with me and no twirly rides!

ok just reread your post! :) if you've NOT been taking anything, i might give the dramamine another go for 24 hours, but if you are still feeling poorly (and eating, drinking enough water, gotten some sleep and no more submariner excursions!), i would go to an urgent care or even the first aid at one of the parks.

i bet you will be better tomorrow! lots of water! :wizard:

no need to worry... both my daughter-in-law and I were rocky for almost a week after our 5 night Dream cruise a few weeks ago... it will pass even without taking anymore bonine.....

I had it for 10 days after my 7 night. I felt awful, couldn't concentrate on anything! It did disappear eventually & hasn't stopped me booking another cruise!!! So sorry - stick with it, it'll be over soon :dance3:

I get it all the time after cruising, I even got it after spending an afternoon in the SF Bay in march...

For this upcoming trip, I bought some patches, will wear them during the cruise and see if they help...

I never feel anything on the ship, but for a week - 10 days or so afterwards, the earth moves and I get sudden onset of quick dizzy spells... never been physically sick from it...

My DD and I both needed Dramamine on our last cruise 7/15-19. The last night was SOOOO rocking and rollin! Worst I have felt in a while (didn't know it at the time it was the Tropical Storm!)

It took me a very long time to stop feeling the ship after we got home - maybe 4 days? The shower and just after standing up was the worst! :)

But it does get better - I didn't take any more meds after getting on land either.

I hope this helps and you feel better!

Omgosh! I thought I was literally the only one that felt like this!

For two weeks after the cruise, I was dizzy and everything was moving, but nothing was wrong with my DH, DB, or Dsil!

It's completely gone now, but it was just the weirdest feeling...

I use the Scapalomine patch...I change it per prescription, and leave on a few days after I get home. DH calls those movements his "ship moments". I used to get them every time after a cruise, and I have been on 12 so far. I don't notice when I keep the patch on a few days. This past cruise, DH was having some pretty intense ship moments. he took Dramamine, and it took care of it. He took for a few days, and felt so much better.

We will ALWAYS take our Bonine at least 3 days after we get off the ship!!! Everyone in my family felt the rocking for several days afterward and my 7 yr old daughter got very sick and had to spend her entire last day at WDW in the hotel room..she was sooooo dizzy and throwing up and couldn't even stand on her own because the room was rocking so bad..I felt just awful for her and really wished that we hadn't stopped taking the medicine the previous day!!!! We will NEVER do that again!!! Lesson learned!!! :headache:

Which works better Bonine or Dramamine? I know that the regular formula of Dramamine has a different active medicine that the Bonine. From what I've been reading the Bonine is less likely to cause drowsness. Is that true?

We are going on our first cruise in September and want to be prepared. I'm going to buy Biobands, ginger gum, and take Bonine or Dramamine with us. I don't think I'll need any of it, but since we've never cruised I don't know for sure. I'm fine in the car, plane, small boats etc.

Ah the "Whoa's" lol. That's what I call that feeling. I had it for about a week after our cruise.

Bonine vs. Dramamine is like Coke versus Pepsi! You'll get lots of opinions supporting both sides. (BTW - those that prefer Bonine are correct!):)

I wore a patch for our 7 day Alaskan cruise. Never had a moment of nausea. After the cruise, wheeeeeeee, I was rolling with the seas for another 5-6 days. DH referred to it as my extended cruise. Around day 4 it was just every so often. By day 6, just a little bit a few times throughout the day. By day 7 I just realized by mid-day, "Hey, the Earth isn't rolling like the waves anymore!"

Hang in there,
Dreams

I don’t want to scare anyone but my husband is currently suffering from Long Term Motion sickness from our May 15th cruise. It’s rate but does happen.

Here’s what he has:
What is Mal de Debarquement Syndrome?
Mal de Debarquement Syndrome (or MDDS) is an imbalance or rocking sensation that occurs after prolonged exposure to motion (most commonly after a sea cruise or a long airplane flight). Travelers often experience this sensation temporarily after disembarking, but in the case of MDDS sufferers it can persist for 6-12 months or even many years in some cases.
The imbalance is generally not associated with any nausea, nor is it alleviated by typical motion-sickness drugs such as scopolamine or meclazine. Symptoms are usually most pronounced when the patient is sitting still; in fact, the sensations are usually minimized by actual motion such as walking or driving.

He’s had a CAT scan and MRI and has been to a neurologist and an ENT and they’ve all come to the same conclusion that this is what he is suffering from. It’s getting better but he still has episodes. He says he feels like he’s hung over all the time. They did give him some anti-anxiety drugs that do seem to ease the symptoms but they do caution that using them can prolong the episode. They have also told him that this can come back if he goes on another cruise which is too bad since we really had a great time on the Dream in May. And again this is a rare condition so nobody should be panicking that they'll get this.

It happened to me after my 5 night cruise in January. Took about 2 weeks for the motion in my head to stop. Hope you feel better soon.

Rather than taking medications to prevent motion sickness, I just bring Ginger Chews with me. Worked like a charm on the 7-night Alaskan cruise I was on, so I'll bring them in September, too. http://www.gingerpeople.com/ginger-chews/original-ginger-chews-3.html

That said, I don't think that would help at all with dizziness AFTER you get off the boat. Ginger and the medications just help prevent issues while in motion. I don't think there's too much you can do other than just wait it out.

I hope your feeling better but I'm lucky that I don't have that problem even after a 15 day transatlantic cruise. I guess it's because I do a lot of scuba diving and travel on smaller boats that the large cruise ships don't even feel like they are moving to me.

Last summer we sailed on the Wonder and the day we got off the ship, we went to MK. I was in a store on Main Street :goodvibes and all of a sudden I felt SO light headed and off balance! I never felt like that on the ship, but really felt bad all that day. The next day was better.
