We are so excited...in August we bought our first, new Jay Flight 28Ft. Bunkhouse and the first thing my husband said was, "Lets go to Disney World for Christmas!" I started trying every day for reservations until last week, a Preferred site opened up from Dec. 25-29...we took it! And were thrilled! pixiedust:

So a couple of days ago, it occurred to me to start trying for a single night, Christmas Eve. Tonight, I was able to secure a Full Hook Up site. pixiedust:

This is our first time to the Fort, but our 5th to WDW. My question is this: How far apart can we expect that these sites will be? And, as far as I can tell, the only difference will be location, is that correct? Anything else we should know as first timers at Fort Wilderness?

Thanks so much. I cannot tell you how excited we are!

Jennifer

It will depend what loop your camp sites are in, on the Disney World web site you can see a map of Fortwilderness that may help if you know what loop or site number your in.
We will be there in 34 days for 4 weeks. Hope you have a great time.

Hey Jennifer. Wow, you really did get some Pixie dust to get those reservations at Christmas!! Good for you! As far as your Christmas Eve reservation, I am sure someone on the board can answer that question better than I can. Who knows, maybe you will luck out and won't have to move! Anyway, you guys are going to have a GREAT time!!!

We will be there to. See you in December!!!

Dave

Preferred is 100 200 300 loops. Full is 1600 1700 1800 1900. Not far 1/2 mile at most. Maybe you'll get some more pixie dust and score a preferred site the 24th or they won't make you move.

Wishing you much pixie dust on your Christmas Eve site. We will be tenting for our 1st FW experience 12/19 - 26th.

Congratulations on the purchase of your new RV. There is no place better then WDW at Christmas time. We are arriving on the 26th.

Thank you for the kind words! I have learned so much over the last few weeks reading the threads about Ft. Wilderness. PLUS-my husband just finished our Mickey Lamp Post (thanks to the directions in the FAQ) that we will be bringing with us!

I have another question, related to our two reservations...Would there be any advantage to calling in to have these reservations linked?

Of course we are hoping for the off chance that we would not have to move at all... even if it means that we would have a full hook up site for the entire week rather than having to move to a the preferred site after just one night.

Thanks,
Jennifer

Jennifer,

There's no advantage here to linking.

I would suggest you keep calling and trying to get all your dates into one type of reservation (Full or Preferred). That's the only way to not have to move. Being the busy time of year that it will be, don't count on being able to stay in one location the way things are.

Good luck and I'm glad you at least got that Christmas Eve date.
