Feeling a little scared?

I am in the same boat. I just got my acceptance letter & am seriously considering not going because I'm so nervous. I'm shy when I first meet people so that makes me look anti-social to other people :( I'm also worried about room mates. I went to boarding school and got pretty lucky with my room mates but some of my friends had horrible ones! I'm REALLY hoping I click with my room mates because I think that will make the program a lot easier and plus it would be totally cool to be best friends with the people that you live with. I also will be in merchandise :)

Don't be nervous! Disney people are usually great! You can always use Disboards and Facebook to find someone you are compatible with.

Congrats on getting accepted! I'm shy when I first meet people too, and because of it everyone always thinks I'm stuck up. That couldn't be less true though! I had to finally just close my eyes and accept, like tearing off a band-aid, because I was being so back and forth about it. I knew though, deep down that I'd really never forgive myself for not going because I was chicken. I mean, I still haven't found a roommate, and I'm still nervous about that whole thing. But I know that it's no reason not to go, or to come home early. I definitely think you should accept, it's the chance of a lifetime. And just think, you'll have all these people from the boards there too...and everyone here is really nice. So you at least know there will be friendly people there!

Agreed! There are always friendly people at Disney! This is definitely the chance of a lifetime!

Soooo I've had the worst possible week I could have right before I'm finding out about disney!! I've been dating this guy for about a month and we had just gotten in a fight about the whole leaving for almost 8 months thing. And he isnt very happy about the whole situtation. We had gotten in a fight on sunday about it and monday i woke up to the phone ringing and it was his best friend saying he had been shot at work. He's a police officer and he was shot in the back responding to a call. So i've been at the hospital all week and now im waiting for my letter and its just a horrable situtation. He's fine thank god, but who knows if this will work out because of what happened this weekend! :S

Oh gosh, I am so sorry to hear that.

im pretty nervous too, but mostly for my mom. she is a widow, and now i feel so bad for her because my brother, her only other child, just moved from our home in indiana to ohio. now im moving all the way to florida and she is going to live in a 4 br house all by herself. :sad1:

I completely understand where you are coming from. My mom is also a widow. We lost my dad three years ago to cancer. When I move to Florida, I will be leaving her in an empty house too. We are also from Indiana. She is really excited for me to participate in the College Program. She has already bought an annual pass so she can come and visit me. We are both huge Disney fans and we vacation there regularly.

Hey first time poster, I can totally related to the scary overwhelming feeling. It's bittersweet feeling, on the one hand I'm ecstatic to the point that I'm driving all my family and friends crazy, on the other hand I'm anxious and nervous. I'm from Puerto Rico and will be the only one from my University accepted for the Spring Advantage so I will be traveling all alone since every other person would already be there by the time i leave.
So i gotta say that all the replies have help me feel a bit better. So thanks.

In any given group of people, there will be some nice people, and some that aren't so nice. This applies to Disney as well. Come on down, have fun. Remember, yes, it is a job, but you're living in a World that other people pay big bucks to visit. Try to find the good in the people around you. I guarantee you'll meet people that are the type that it improves your life to have them in it.

I know I have (including you, Eric.:) ).

Try not to go into it with a bad feeling about it in the first place, and remember about the roommates: you can request changes like your friend did. It isn't always easy, but if you ended up having to, you could. My ex had a lot of pretty bad problems with his roommates and he got switched into an apt with a friend and it was all (prettymuch) better.

The prettymuch brings me to another piece of advice: almost noone is easy to live with so just try as much as you can to get along and hope you'll get someone decent. My experience with roommates has not been good personally. But you have a decided advantage in living in CP housing that you can ask to be switched. if you were in a real apartment somewhere on a lease or with no opportunity to move, you'd be SOL so that is one benefit of living on-property that you'll have.

In all likelihood you'll get some decent people. Just try to chill about it and I wish you good luck!!!

Also, you will meet friends! Trust me! If not your roommates, you will make friends at work and Disney CMs are fun people!!!
