Feeling a bit concerned about this VB report

since it is pretty recent. I realize it is only one review.We were there about 1 year ago and we thought it was perfect. Beautiful, in fact. I'm sure my standards are not any lower than this person's so I'm wondering if things have changed at VB?(I'm not sure if it's o.k. to cut and paste it but here goes...)

Disney's Vero Beach Resort: "shocked...."

We planned a four night vacation, but left after the first night!! I was really disappointed in the upkeep of the resort. For the money we were spending the resort is somewhat run down and the rooms were not well cleaned. I understand that this is a timeshare, but I still expect the rooms to be vacuumed, floors cleaned and no ANTS! I understand that things will sometimes happen that are out of the staff's control, but we were upgraded because of the problems with our first room only to have worse problems with our second room! If this is your first trip to Vero Beach, I would beware...The staff is very courteous and we felt bad, this is suppose to be a very nice resort!!!

This sounds like something I saw posted before....maybe here. I would take it with a grain of salt. There may have been other circumstances that clouded this person's review. I have never seen anything else like this posted. Sometimes a person will say they didn't like the slower pace of Vero but I don't think I've seen complaints about the resort itself. It wasn't rundown when my relatives stayed there (as my guests) in March.

I was just there from May 17-24, for the first time. From what I experienced the Resort overall is very well maintained and my room was ok. I had no ants but no see ums and lizards (not in the room BTW) were everywhere but that is NATURE not uncleanliness. My toilet did have problems and overflowed on the last day but the staff took care of it ASAP. I left promptly so I'm sure they had plenty of time to clean after I left. I can see where some rooms may have a bit of sand in them but again, it's a beach Resort. As long as I can't build a sandcastle in the room, who cares.

It would be interesting to know what rooms this person actually saw. Were they in the Inn or Villas sections?

This has never been consistent with our experience, the rooms have always been very clean, and the resort well maintained. At different times the putt putt course needed attention, and the pirate ship needed work, and the beach access ramp needed work, but these issues all seem corrected by our next trips. The rooms have always looked great. Gardens wonderful. Pool wonderful. The beach is ever changing. Sorry to hear they had a bad trip, but it's inconsistent with our experience over several years and several trips.

We were there in April and found it to be very clean and well-kept. Everything appeared to be in tip-top shape. I guess everyone has their own standards and you'll have to be your own judge. And remember, there are some people who are never satisfied, no matter where they are.

We were there 5/25-5/30 and were pleased with the upkeep of the resort with only one minor exception......... a door panel (which "houses", I believe, maintenance access to the a/c) was unlocked. Luckily it was more than high enough out of reach for our DS's 5 and 2.5. BTW, we were in room 1231.

We go to VB every summer and have never had a problem. And we are returning this August for 8 glorious nights and I'm not worried at all about the above mentioned report.

The only time we ever had any problem at all was last summer. Our garbage disposal broke and water poored all over the kitchen floor. I called maintance and they arrived in less than 15 minutes. We were on our way out to play tennis when he arrived and before we left he asked :Could he do anyhting else for us? I laughed and said "Sure wash the dishes. LOL" When we returned I swear as Walt as my witness, HE HAD WASHED THE DISHES!!

We were there May 17-24 and loved the resort. 2 bdrm was clean, staff were great, facilities in overall good condition. We will vacation there again.

I concur with above posts. I was there the first week of May, and my 1-BR unit was in as good of condition as any DVC resort I've stayed at.

Whew!

I am relieved to hear the positive reports from all of you. I am heading to Vero for a weekend that we are sandwiching between BCVs and OKW in August.

We are bringing friends and sure don't want to have to be apologizing for the place.

I am sure things are going to be fine and we will enjoy ourselves to the max.

I am bringing the bug spray with the DEET for the noseeums and skeeters!!!

Oh yea, the noseeums. That was the one thing that was a bit irritating. You need the bug spray for those little devils!
