Hi everyone!

I just felt the need to let abit of steam off. In June I decided to start putting around £600 into savings at the end of each month, so I can potentially move out of my parents and have a decent deposit on a house sometime next year!

I have quite a well paid job for a 24 year old, but the saving is driving me mad! Ive been in the job im in for a couple of years now and always had money to spare so to speak, parents never wanted rent or anything, but im finding this hard!!!

I know eventually I will have a house and long term il be better off, but at the minute im craving a trip to Orlando and I just cannot afford it!!! My brother is off with his friend in March and ive had to say I cant go!!! :headache:

Anyway thats my rant over with haha sorry for moaning on! looks like il have to make do with trip reports!!!!!!

Just wanted to say I am proud of you. Wish I was that smart and determined! Maybe then I wouldn't have all this debt. Stick with it!

I promise it will be worth it! Ive been saving all year for a place of my own and today I found out my mortgage application has been accepted and im buying an amazing house!!! It has all been totally worth it! Im young aswell (22) and just moved back from uni last year so living with my parents again hasnt been the smoothest ride. Im so glad I can move out now without wasting money renting. Just stick at it and it will all be worthwhile.

Hang in there I know its tough, i'm in the same position, i'm paid ok but not brilliant for the shifts I have to do though.

The upside of the shifts is that I don't have much of a social life so not going out much spending & have been able to put more away in my savings account. This weekend will be my 3rd in a row working, so its tough catching up with friends as they all work during the week.

I have been fortunate to have some good holidays this year but I have managed to do overtime to pay for them & not touch my basic salary. I plan on having a couple of holidays next year & have set up another savings account up just for this purpose, just need overtime to come back at work

My plan was originally was to move out this year but what the bank offered me mortgage wise was easily payable each month but nowhere near enough to buy a house in the area, so I have had to push it back a year & try again. To afford a place here I basically have to put down a deposit nearly the same as I want to borrow.

Good luck its worth it in the end:thumbsup2

Hang in there mate. Good things come to those who wait.
I can understand how frustrating it must be - especially with it being a buyers market at the moment - but it will be worth it in the end and once you are in your own house all the tough times will have been forgotten.

It will be worth it - when people say to me "you are so lucky to have a house" I point out that DH and I saved very hard, went without holidays (and other things) and no-one GAVe it to us - we had to earn it. It is worth the hard work and the wait - but do set aside a tiny amount for a treat now and then (look out for a last-minute day or two in DLrP, maybe, if it gets too bad;)) perhaps by saving loose change in a jar or something.

Hang on in there ~ it will be so worth it in the end! I know home ownership isn't for everyone but IMO you really can't put a price on the security of owning your own home.
