Feedback Removed on Ebay?

I am wondering. I had a newer ebay recently. Now the person called me no less than 15 times to harrass me about why they did not receive their item. This was after they paid via money order- and I have in my auctions and told them in email 3 times their item would be held 2 weeks. They started calling 2 days after I received the money order.

Then, they started emailing me, repeatedly (at least 6) very nasty emails. Nothing to do w/ the item, just calling me a name.

Anyhow, now to boot their payment did not clear. Their money order is from someplace I've never hear of and it was deposited almost 3 weeks ago and it did not clear.

This person is new to ebay. He has only been on since last month. He has a rating of 3 I believe. Anyhow, I left him a negative rating. He had it removed- he emailed me a snide remark that he was able to get rid of it. When I went to ebay to check- sure enough it's gone. How in the world was he able to do that??

Also, what do I do about the uncleared money order. Of course if you buy a money order from Western Union or USPS there are numbers to call to show they haven't been cashed. This guy is a true nut job and I'm not sure how to handle this from here.

I'm not sure what the problem is on your part, your customer did everything correctly. A money order does not have to "clear". He cannot get a money order without giving the issuer the $$ for it. You should not be holding an item that is paid for with a money order.

As for the harrassment, that is another issue.

Aparantly a money order doesn't always clear....as evidenced by the OP's situation. There are many cases of fraud with money orders. I think the seller was perfectly legitimate in holding the item. If she had mailed the item, she would have lost money since the check was no good.

I have no idea how the feedback got removed. I thought that could never happen.

If the person is continuing to call and do nothing but call you names, call the phone company and tell them you are being harrassed by phone. They can likely put a stop to it.

Not necessarily. There can be problems with money orders depending on where you get them. I would go straight to the bank myself and see what they say. I would also specify a certain type of money order in the future. If it didn't "clear" then it's probably not legit. I would investigate that and consider contacting ebay and just sending it back to the guy. As far as the harrassment goes, I would also make it very clear to ebay what happened and why the negative feedback was left. If this guy only has a feedback rating of three, it's not like he can't just go and get another account. I'm sure it wouldn't be the first time. I hope things get resolved.

I would email the situation to ebay, sounds like you might have a fraud. I wouldn't let it bother me to much. Many weird things happening on ebay, The last thing i had was a email from paypal about a payment that was sent from my paypal that was not something I ordered they wanted you to log on to change it. I deleted the email and went to paypal and no such thing existed. They are getting very sneaky. good luck :cool1: :cool1: :cool1:

Make sure you save the emails and document any calls.

I would return his original money order to him and file a complaint with ebay. I work in a bank and I know that money orders and cashiers check can be fake. I just saw one for $7000 that was not real. He sound like a real piece of work. I would also ask ebay about his feedback and how he was able to erase it.

If you listen to Clark Howard he talks all the time about fake money orders and cashiers checks being a real problem.

When I sell on ebay now I only allow paypal, and I require the buyers to have a paypal account before bidding. It may cut down on bidders, but it has cut down HUGELY on problems with fraud.

If you have a square trade account they will remove negative feedback pending arbitration, that may have been what happened to you. However, Square Trade should have contacted you regarding the negative feedback you left in an attempt to resolve it.

You really, really need to bring Ebay in on this and keep hammering them until it is resolved. They will help, but grudgingly. THey're very squeaky wheel oriented.

The whole threatening you thing should be enough to get him unregistered. I had a buyer from Nigeria doing similar things and I eventually got him kicked off.

Good luck.

You definitily need to report this person to E-bay. I would really like to know how he had the feedback removed. I love e-bay but it is jerks like this that mess it up for all the decent people on there.

Hope you get this resolved.

You can request phone numbers from eBay, but only those on auctions you have won/sold.

My ?? is why did you give out your number??

Buyers/sellers can request your phone number directly from ebay. Ebay actually encourages parties to correspond via telephone to try and resolve issues that way before going thru ebay.

I of course didn't "give" him my phone number- he got it from ebay.
The only thing w/ ebay I've found is that when you have a real problem they sweep it under the rug and send you cookie cutter emails. I have NEVER EVER gotten anywhere w/ them over anything real. It's not that I wouldn't like to see this reported. However, it gets very discouraging to take time repeatedly to send them documentation over and over and get the same responses. I know this is what happened when I had a true blue problem w/ a buyer I bought from a few months ago. They never did one thing and didn't let me know why. The buyer accepted paypal, their item was damaged, which I had their emails stating so. So they never shipped the item. They then refunded my money begrudgingly- they wanted me to buy something else instead. You'd think end of story- but No. They went on the file a NPB against me- even though I paid paypal and they didn't have the item to send. Ebay let them do this and didn't assist me one bit. They were clearly wrong. I know it's off topic- but it's an example of how the ebay support system does NOT work.
If he went via squaretrade- I never received anything- and I don't know why he'd pay for that his item is only $8.00.
I opened my email an hour ago and I had 11 emails from him wanting his item. I am sorry but he is really over the top.

I did file it w/ ebay as payment not cleared and that is what prompted the 11 emails.

He sounds like a real nut. Just ignore his emails, don't answer his calls and hope he gives up soon. Scary. I've just been in a run in with a worthless seller. He took my money ehich was close to 100 bucks, then never sent the item. Thankfully PayPal gave me a refund and all I got stuck with was negative feedback. He has never called or otherwise harrassed me. I'm sorry this is happening. If he is calling I really would call your local police saying you are being threatened/harrassed by phone. They would get the phone company involved. Or cal your phine company for help. Likely a call from the police saying threatening and or harrassing calls are coming from his phone would be all it would take to stop it.

Well, from what I've read on the eBay discussion boards, people are getting one "freebie" feedback removal and sellers are not even being notified until after the fact.

I don't have all the details and will search the posts on the discussion boards over there to see if I can find the thread.

Sorry this happened to you OP, money orders are taking longer and longer to clear lately, I am thinking of doing only PayPal, BidPay and cashier's checks since they (m/orders) are taking as long as checks to clear!

Well, sorry, maybe I'm mistaken, the thread I was thinking of has to do with having the first unpaid item strike removed......still working on finding out the FB info. Maybe with the new changes implemented on the 1st that is why???

Both money orders and official checks can have stop payments put on them also. I am a bank teller, and if the purchaser fills out an affadavit stating that the m.o./o.c. was lost or stolen, then a stop payment can be placed, and the money refunded. however, if the item wasn't that much to begin with, I can't imagine going through all that effort.

Maybe they got the feedback removed based on what you said. There are rules as to what you can and cannot say in feedback. That is the only way, other than through mutual removal, you can get a feedback removed AFAIK.

You absolutely have to wait until a money order clears. Money orders can be fraudulent as well as cashiers checks. The only safe money order I will accept is a US Postal money order.
