Now I eat hot dogs myself on occasion but only Hebrew National and my kids never ever eat hot dogs.
I eat Hebrew National too, and Ballpark, for some reason I really like that brand. The last pack of Hebrew National franks I bought were $1.24 for seven of them, and the last pack of Ball Parks I bought were about 70 cents.

I Forgot to share this why i signed in anyway great lunch idea for the kids.
Costco had hot wings and dip for a family of 6 for 4.99 and whole chicken roasted for 4.99 my son said mom that would be great with cut up veggies and fruit for me for lunch and water. So i talked to the girl behind the counter and she said they are good refrigerated for 5 days or great if you freeze them. She does that. My kids love cold chicken to eat so We picked up 3 pkg of hot wings and broke them in to 15 meals freeze until time for back to school since i won't get back over there until then. It's cheaper that way to, chicken wings cost me 1.99 lb why is that. When i can buy a whole chicken for .59 lb. Anyone notice that. The cost of wings and drumsticks?

Costco's roast chicken is so good. I usually buy 2 when we go. We eat one right away and freeze one. For $5 I get 2 dinners for the 3 of us and at least 1 lunch for DD and me. DH buys his lunch at work.

You're right, you can't get them cheaper uncooked not that I've ever seen chickens as big as the Costco ones in the grocery store.

After watching Supersize Me, I gave up McDonald's for two WHOLE weeks.

I do have to wonder:rolleyes1 do the people who complaine about what we spend on food for the day ...Do they eat Mc donalds...:lmao: . I used to love Mc donalds , however I gained major lbs, so no more for me. It was really an addiction at least 3x a week no lie:rotfl:

Well as a person that stands up and goes Hi my name is Dawn and i'm an alcoholic i never could understand the concept of lite beer or my favorite low carb beer lol haha. I use to go really after a 12 pk does carbs really matter lol :rotfl:

It's good savings to stock up on meat when it's on sale, and freeze a lot. I have a stock pile of chicken breasts that cost between $1 to $2 a pound, bacon that cost between 78 cents and $2 a pound, fish that cost $4 a pound, ground beef that costs about $1 a pound, and pork loins that cost about $2.50 a pound.[/QUOTE]

I wish i could find food here with those prices . . .

You guys are so funny! I love love love  McDonald's french fries, so much so that I only let myself eat them once a month :rotfl:

I never pay more then $1.50 for a pack of hot dogs, and I generally only eat two brands Hebrew National and Ball Park. My last pack of Ball Park only cost like 70 cents. I bought three packs and froze two of them.

And the nutritional analysis of Ballpark Franks rates a D-.
http://www.calorie-count.com/calories/item/95366.html

I won't eat those things nor would I subject my family to such rubbish.

McDonald's is a convenience thing - I'll grab it in a pinch because I am just starving but I sure won't run there and bring it home and say "Here's dinner." I won't prepare cheap hotdogs. I go directly to the butcher who makes and smokes them right on premises and uses only quality items. I don't have to worry about "mystery meat." I do pay $1.50 a hot dog though but they are so good and so worth it.

Once again, let me remind people who want to debate nutritional values, social responsibilities and minimum portion sizes to find another forum to express themselves.

The purpose of this thread was to create a challenge and to get people to think about their grocery budgets. All suggestions for ways to provide balanced, filling and economical meals are certainly welcomed, regardless of whether they actually come in at the $10/day mark or not.

Judgements of others' eating habits add nothing positve to the discussion and serve only to create ******* on the thread. And if the discussions become too heated, infractions will be issued.

Please stay on-topic!

i was at walmart today adn they gave samples of a microwavable hamburger helper that already contained the hamburger. i made some tonight. it was not bad for a cheap/fast summer meal.
