I think we are going to cancel our second room at ASMo but we want to increase our tickets from 2 days to the 10 day non-expiring park hopper pluses. This will actually increase the cost of the package. I have heard that if you upgrade your resort you don't get charged the fee. Will an increase in the package cost also eliminate the fee? If it doesn't does anyone know what the fee is? We are leaving at the end of September so it's within 45 days. Thanks so much...

depends on how you made your ressie. If you booked thru BRP, they have dropped that modification fee but they may not consider yours a modifacation, but a cancelation since you are dropping one room and adding onto tickets, they are different types of deals...if I am making any sence to you.

As someone who worked in rsvs for Dis up until about 2 weeks ago, here are the rules for that, when I left:

As long as you are increasing the PACKAGE (doesn't have to be the resort), the $50 change fee is waived. So, if your 2nd room was part of the same package as the first room (meaning you only have 1 rsv number and not 2), as long as the difference in tickets makes up for the cancellation, you shouldn't have a problem. There's also supposed to be a $10 fee imposed to redo the docs and Fedex them out to you, but our guest services never had us impose it (in fact, I stopped asking about it). But, you do have to be told about it since it's in the spiel we're required to read. :)

I'm glad I found this post because I have a situation that kind of falls into the same category, only backwards, kind of. I'm rattling. Okay, here is the deal.

I made a reservation for myself, hubby, brother-in-law, and 2 nieces. Two rooms at Pop, MYW tickets, and free dining.

My bil gets a letter from the school over the weekend informing him that one of his daughters is failing 3 of her 6 classes. Needless to say he is livid. He is wanting to cancel his reservation and hers (the other daughter will be able to go with us). Can we cancel just their portion of the reservation, keeping ours, and how much of his payment can he plan on getting back?

Any help you can give me would be greatly appreciated. I want to be "in the know" before I call the travel agent (a whole new rant, but let's just handle them one at a time).

Again, it depends on how the reservation was made. Is there two separate rsv numbers? Or, is every thing on 1 rsv? And how far out is the rsv?

If it's 2 separate reservations and he's within 45 days, then he'll incur the $100 or $200 cancel penalty (depending how far out he is) unless he opts to change the dates (even to next year). Then, he'd only incur the $50 penalty for changes.

If it's 1 rsv, the $50 penalty would be incurred (again, if within 45 days) for changing the rsv.

I always did my best to advise my guests that two rsvs were better because of situations like these. Disney has found that, more often than not, one party will decide to come in early or stay later and it's a mess trying to break it all up if it's made together. Much easier to do them separately. Either way has NO effect on your chances of getting connecting/adjoining rooms. :)
