Fedex Issues

I worry about USPS, also!

I ordered a small item from Amazon on Halloween, with a delivery estimate of Nov 5-15. I was OK with that time frame. On Nov 2nd, Amazon tracking showed the item had been given to USPS. So, I logged into USPS and set up tracking emails. And I waited. I have to drive to get my mail, so I usually do it once a week. I planned to wait until the package was delivered. The tracking on Amazon didn’t change, and the tracking on USPS said they were waiting to receive the package for transit. Finally, I went to get my mail, and lo and behold, the package is sitting in the mailbox. This was around the 10th.

USPS has still not updated their tracking, as of yesterday, so of course, neither has Amazon. Amazon is saying I can get a refund if the item doesn't arrive by the 19th. All the while I am sitting here admiring my purchase in my own home. This type of thing happens every single time USPS gets involved. The worst is when they say it’s been delivered, and the mailbox is empty. I try to avoid buying from people who use USPS, but sometimes you just don’t know until after you place an order. It’s so frustrating!

I had one with the same tracking status, but it never did show up. I had Amazon send me another after enough time had passed to call it lost. It was a large dog kennel, not sure how you misplace that.

I've got a good track record with USPS here, only one thing lost in the last five years and it was a teeny package of dice. Always ship packages to the girlfriend through them, and use them when I'm Ebay selling. So far all is well.
UPS is good too, never had a problem receiving but the few times I've had to send UPS it costs a bloody fortune and I have to wait in a really long line at the UPS store.
Fedex is literally the only service I actively attempt to avoid. When I used to get dolls delivered through them there were a few cases of "Okay, gonna open this on camera because it looks like a steamroller ran over it and if it's broken as heck I want video evidence." Had a saying in my doll group because of it, 'There is never too much bubble wrap.'

We don't get too much delivered via FedEx, but a pair of shoes I ordered from Merrell from my DH were delivered by them today. The delivery guy stood about halfway across my front yard and threw them at the porch. Good thing it wasn't anything breakable.

I have two packages to Japan (one from Belk, one from Kohls) that have gone missing. FedEx had the one from Belk (a Harry Potter shirt) on Oct 10th; it made it to California on the 15th...and then it bounced around Cali until Oct 28th, when they said they notified USPS. Hasn't been seen since. The Kohls one (a NFL jersey type shirt) was shipped on Oct 13th. It bounced around Cali from Oct 15 until Oct 31st; on the 31st, FedEx 'notified' USPS, and then it went missing. No USPS tracking number on either package, which is odd, because when Target or Amazon ship FedEx Smart Post, there is always the second tracking number; USPS said the lack of tracking number means they never received the shipment. So I have two packages sitting in a FedEx truck somewhere in California (I'm assuming).

I haven't had any issues with stuff shipping to Japan from Target or Amazon (most of which ship SmartPost). They've all made it within 3-4 weeks. Once the packages hit USPS in Chicago (usually 1 week or so), it's 2-3 weeks to delivery. Even the other 2 packages shipped from Kohls and Belk (more shirts/sweaters, and Christmas ornaments) made it within that same time frame...the difference between the delivered and missing packages....the delivered went through Chicago, the missing through California. All the other packages get a 2nd tracking number from USPS; only these 2 haven't.

Belk refunded the shirt; they couldn't reship as it was out of stock; but they did the refund on Nov 6th, when I called to ask if they had any way to help track it; I didn't even ask for the refund.
Kohls refused to help; I asked if they could help find out where it was, and they said no. Same chat, without prompting, told me they can't do anything until 6 business days after the last 'where is it' date, then right after that, said they can't do anything until 10 business days after the last day of 'when it will arrive'...and then told me fine, Nov 16th, end of day, if it's not there, then they can do something. So I got on with them yesterday, and they resent the jersey shirt.

Sorry to revive, but I have to vent as I am so angry with FedEx. Three packages in the last two weeks marked as delivered which were not. One technically was - they threw it over my neighbor's fence (what?!) and the picture did not match either of our houses/yards. The two from today are not anywhere on the street and no pictures attached. I've complained via multiple avenues tonight and can't get Walmart involved until 2 business days later. One is my daughter's "Santa" gift and not cheap. ARGH!!!!

On top of that, sidebar, Walmart did not deliver my groceries today so I spent 30 minutes trying to get that resolved.

I hate deliveries, but I hate shopping in store more! :(

ETA: My tag says be grateful. I'm grateful for this group to vent to :)

ETA2: Complained on Facebook and got immediate response and they are escalating to management at the local facility.

Now that's a package you don't want lost for too long! My heart mourns for delicious and lost ruined steaks!
I worked for them during the holidays in customer service a few years ago. The good thing about them is that they pretty much resend orders with very few questions asked along with gift cards. That job let me know customer service wasn't for me! I couldn't handle people yelling at me on the phone all day. They have now outsourced all phone jobs to the Philipines.
