federal refund deposit delay?

We are having the same issue. Ours was accepted on Jan. 18, and the WMR site first said Feb 1....now it says due to processing delays you will receive your refund by Feb 8. Ok, well, that would be just fine if we weren't leaving for Disney on Feb 3 and our refund is our trip money. I would not have planned the two so close if I had thought there would be an issue....I have never had this happen before. It has always deposited when it says or even before. I am praying it still does deposit tomorrow.

deposits are always on a friday.

It is still not there this morning. My bank doesn't put holds on money, so I know that as soon as they get it, it will be available. I am hoping that now, by giving me the "expect by" date of the 8th, means they will send it on the 4th. Crossing fingers and toes...this is gonna be a stressful week for me.

I have no idea. I have called three times now...and got a different story each time. First guy says, just a delay, but we have to wait 3 weeks for them to process. Second lady, says it has been sent to the error department, but it has been fixed and deposit scheduled for 8th. But, she can't tell me if the refund amt has changed. And it could be by the 8th,but it could be later too, after I asked her if the 8th meant it was an actual deposit date of the 4th....because the IRS gives you a date three days later to allow the bank time to post. Third lady, said not in error, just hasn't been processed and I have to wait three weeks. We don't really have much money right now, although, DH is talking about going ahead and leaving as scheduled and praying it comes. I don't trust the IRS now after this whole thing and don't want to drive 16 hours to Disney and then still have no money. We haven't even bought tickets yet. We do have the house reserved, but a friend put it on his cc and we are paying him our half when we get there...and apparently the reservation can't be cancelled...I don't know about changed. Sigh. I am gonna NEED a vacation after all this!

We are having ours done today, hopefully getting a refund in time for our vacation!

Yes, we could do them on our own, but a mess-up last year that resulted in us filing an amended return has us going professionally this year. Last years return was a mess, and we don't want to go through that again!

Ouch. What a stressful situation!

Any chance you can push the reservation out a week or 2? That would be awful to get all the way there and have NO money. Tight squeeze timing right there...I would really try and move the vacation back.

I don't understand how so many can file this early as I don't even have all the information I need to file yet. Got the W-2's but have not got all my investment stuff yet, although I guess I could go on line and get it but they seem to always issue "corrected" statements later so I usually just wait. Besides since I seem to always pay I am in no hurry to give them my money yet.

Maybe thats why they are delaying with payments to others, they are waiting on my money to give others their refund.:rotfl:

Calling and bugging them won't get you your refund any faster. You will most likely have in on 2/4. Next time, don't spend the money before you have it. Tough lesson to learn.

BTW, What would you have one if there was a delay with a W-2 or some other issue that you wouldn't have been able to even file yet? :confused3

I usually file on Feb 1 or so. I do still need my DIV form from my 3M stocks...their new online system STINKS...and I can't find it.

I have to say, I am SHOCKED at what we are getting back this year. We took an early withdrawal from DH's 401 for an emergency situation. We were able to pay almost all of it back within the 60 days, but last time we did that (about 10 years ago) we got SLAMMED! We are getting a really nice chunk of change back this year...

I tried to set up my withholdings so we would get a smaller refund....but a lot of credits and deductions in federal blew that out of the water. However, for state we are getting $5 back :) So I am going to just donate it to the wildlife and game fund....save them the expense of sending a deposit for so little!

Ours was in our account today too. We were also shocked at the size of our refund - we thought we'd get a couple of hundred bucks and instead we got several thousand. What a happy surprise that was - the last couple of years we owed them.

We didn't plan the trip until we knew what our refund was going to be. Ours is very simple and can be figured by the last paycheck. I also double check it against the w-2 that comes out electronically when it gets here before I submit it. .....and like I said, we have never had issue with the direct deposit date being changed. I guess I never really thought they could or would do that, but then again they are the government.

Not true...I received both my federal and state this past tuesday, I was't expecting it till today either, but surprise...lol

What day did the Where's my Refund page tell you? Some banks put a temporary hold on incoming funds. That's why the irs refund cycle chart will say feb 4 is when the money will be sent, but irs site actually says the 8th...to give the banks time to process. (just wondering so I know if there is a glimmer of hope before the 8th! lol)

All we have is my husband's w-2 and student loan interest. I say at home. We don't own anything, and he's in the military. Easy peasy. I can get all his info from his last LES statement.

We don't even have all of our tax documents in yet I can't believe people can file already. We have to wait anyway because of the processing delay with the new tax laws and who knows when those will be done-it was early Feb, then mid Feb, now late Feb.

As for the direct deposits-they don't process early so if you are scheduled for one week, that is the week you will get.

I'm single, I don't own a house... and I can figure out interest earned without a 1099.

I filed mine on Tuesday evening. When it was accepted it had a date of Feb 8th. Tax Act cycle chart showed Feb 4th. I checked again today and it has a deposit date of Feb 2nd. :)

The IRS website told me by February 1st.
