Federal Judge Overturns Mask Mandate for Flights and other Transportation

I don't know much about American court systems but is this judge the be-all and end-all for this? Or does it still have to go somewhere higher?

And likely a request to stay the decision while it's appealed so that the mandate will stay in place.
Not so sure about that, but you could definitely be right (federal courts do things against their purported ideology all the time). This most likely will have an emergency appeal to the 11th circuit, or the Supreme Court could swing in to intervene. I'm not an appellate litigator, but my knowledge of both courts makes me skeptical either will stay the order issued by the U.S. District Court. To make this easy to understand though, the only two courts that could place a stay are the 11th circuit and the Supreme Court, both of whom skew conservative.

Testing was mentioned in the article, but as a request by airlines. I’d guess that if it’s removed for flying, it would include port testing.
I'm not super knowledgable, but I think (super uncertain though) other cruise lines already cut out port testing?

As far as I know, DCL has been the only at-port testing line. Other lines (or at least RCCL and Celebrity - I don't follow NCL or Carnival) testing is gotten on your own within 72 hours of boarding.

Worth mentioning that any airline can continue to mandate masks on board, and any cruise line can continue to port test.
Totally worth mentioning, you are right. Also worth noting that, although not cruises, CEOs of every major US airline signed a letter to the executive urging an end of mask mandates on flights (as well as testing).

That is true. But I believe all the major airlines have asked that the mask mandate be dropped. I could be wrong about that though.

Where did you see that? Last I knew they were wanting it to continue. It's just the a-holes who cause issues they want to have more severe consequences.

So it sounds like it's a money saver to us for Disney to test at the port.
True if it was a PCR requirement as those aren't any cheaper than $200 per person in Manitoba.

I am Canadian so I still have to take a rapid antigen in order to fly into the US. Luckily I can get one done for $20 at Walmart. But if I was able to use it for the cruise then boarding day would be less stressful as I would already have my negative result.

Absolutely. At least on Celebrity you could buy a tele-proctored test through a lab they made arrangements with or you could get your own at an approved lab.

The advantage of the pre-testing is that you didn't get to the port, test positive, and then be stuck.
