Federal income tax refunds

I actually called last night around 8:45pm and was talking to someone who could actually do something within 15-20 minutes.

wow, about fell off my chair. i called at 7:00 this morning and was on hold for almost 45 minutes. still not happy about the whole situation, but what can i do. the amazing thing to me is: we filed an ammended form for our '08 taxes (DH forgot 2 things-ya- duh), mailed it on the 26th of january and was told this morning that the paper check is being mailed next friday, the 12th- figure that one out.

when I rechecked this am the date for my refund has changed to the 16th but if you look on the chart on page 1 of this thread there is no dd dates for the 16th. Can I hope to get my refund on the 12th. I was hoping for today because by that chart it was suppose to be today!:confused

I don't know why but they always list the date as the Tuesday following the actual deposit date. Ours was listed as the 9th then I checked it yesterday and it said it would be in on the 5. Sure enough I checked our account this morning and it was in there.

Here is what I think...and it's just a theory. When I got my email from Turbo Tax saying it was accepted, it said I would receive my DD on 2/12 but to allow at least 2 business days for it to be deposited. When I pull up my info on irs.gov, it says I should receive mine on 2/16...which is exactly 2 business days after 2/12. So my theory is that the difference I/you see is the process date and the actual date it should find its way into ones account. I wonder how many people see this same stuff and just forget or didn't know that weekends aren't included when they count business days.

Waiting game resumes again. My UI for this week is screwed. My student loans aren't coming through. And then there's my tax refund. Ugh, no idea what to do.

still waiting on my end as well. so far, the online still says should be received by feb 16, which was originally changed from feb 5, so we will see if it arrives this friday or next week.

I'm still playing the waiting game as well. I got a pleasant surprise when my state refund was deposited early Saturday morning, so at least there is that.

My new theory is that perhaps it depends what form you filed. It seems like the people who filed the EZ or 1040A are getting refunds faster, whereas I filed the regular 1040 and mine is taking longer.

Still waiting here also. Still says they are still processing it- both the online and telephone-, but doesn't give a date. So, DH called and talked to someone today and they told him it is scheduled to be deposited this Friday, 2/12, for the amount that we are expecting. We'll see.

I wonder if the issue with the delay isnt affecting those of you who put an amount in the Make it Pay work section. (I think that is what it is called.) We shouldn't have needed to put anything in that section because we didn't receive checks. We should only put something in that section if you don't work or are disabled. I don't remember the exact wording but some people who could not recieve the credit through changes to the payroll taxes recieved got a one time check. I think social security reciepients and maybe disability recipients. These are the people who should have put an amount in it. I didn't put any amount in there and I filed mine on 1/30 and it was direct deposited on 2/5. Friday to Friday.

BTW I filed long form because I have mortgage interest and other deductions and credits to file so it isn't the long forms being held up.

ok, heres the newest info i just received on mine-we efiled back on jan 23, long form. was accepted that day and said to receive on feb 5. On feb 3, it changed its status online saying it would be here on feb 12, then the next day changed to feb 16. Since then, it keeps saying feb 16. I just got off the phone with the IRS-they took my info and said i am scheduled to get deposited this friday feb 12, even though the website says feb 16, so we will see. I asked if any reason for the delay and he just said, no, they do allow up to 3 weeks to be processed.

Anyone see a difference in their federal refund? I was a little concerned since Obama did the stimulus in April-where they were taking out less of your federal taxes in your paycheck-your paycheck was a little higher, but was wondering if the refund was lower??:confused3

Oh ya lower, about $700. We have always gotten around the same for the past 6 years, not this year. That stimulus hurt us, so to say. Nothing else changed for us, except that.

mine was right around where it should be, my situation hasn't changed for a few years so I used my refund amount from 2 years ago and they are about the same (within $50 of each other). Last year I got some extra money from Bush's stimulus because I only partially qualified when the first mailed the checks out. So looking at it my refund went down $250 from last year to this year but truly it's because I didn't have that stimulus credit, know what I mean?

From everything I heard and read this most affects two income families. Any other year, it would have hurt us big time but my new little tax deduction arrived on 12/30. Also the "Making work pay" credit helped too.

I put that I did not receive a one time check, although it did end up giving me a little extra back.

Go figure, now mine has moved up to 5 days earlier than before: it was saying the 16th for deposit as of last Friday, but now it says it ould be deposited on the 10th. All righty then.
