Fed-up Documentary!!!

Proof? Links?

I mean you are the one making the claims. As such, post the studies. Prove to us your side of the discussion. If you are unwilling to, it just hurts your argument more.

Sorry but I am not your researcher. The links can be found as well as the proof, it is out there!

I would totally support you not wanting to provide any proof (research for) someone else to back their own claims--but I really do not see how you expect to be taken seriously, or sway anyone's mind towards your beliefs when you make rather over the top seeming and broad claims and then refuse to provide any proof of what you are saying.

Quite honestly, even if I 100% agreed with you (and while I do not, I would love to see HFCS banned in the US, etc) I would see that as just meaning that you don't actually have any back up for what you say and are basically blowing smoke. That tactic is really a very poor way to "argue" anything.

So the only "proof" you are willing to link is that documentary? You don't even seem willing to share your personal experience in detail. Makes me think you have no idea what you are talking about and you just fell prey to the latest "this is bad for you" fad. Good luck with all of that.

Do you realize your body makes its own sugar, that is chemically identical to regular sugar? That your brain runs on glucose alone? Your body is a toxic sugar making machine!
Yes I do. It converts carbs naturally to sugar. My food does not contain added and unnecessary toxic sugar.

The OP just did a "cleanse" of sugar a few weeks ago. It appears they are less than a month into this new diet and still in the extremist stage.

Thanks for this :thumbsup2

OP, I am glad you feel better than you did. I really am. But, I am not sure how you can take your experience in this very short term, and extrapolate that into "all sugar is toxic" and no one should eat it at all.

Maybe, especially if you cannot bring yourself to even support your claims with the research that you presumably have already found, you would be best to enjoy your diet and feeling without trying to push it on others.

What do you eat?
I don't eat anything with added sugar. I don't eat anything advertised. I eat foods with a low glycemic index if there are naturally occurring sugars like strawberries (just picked four gallons organic last weekend) or blueberries.

Lots of veggies but not carrots. Root veggies but not potatoes.

I can support my claims, but like I said I don't need to provide links or proof as they are readily available with anyone with a search engine.

Anyway I am going to talk about this amazing documentary and ignore anyone who wants to bury their head in the sand about this growing problem in our country of the effects of the poison that is added toxic sugar to our food supply.

I laugh when anyone says, oh but sugar is natural since it is a plant. Well so is Cocaine and Marijuana. It must be good for us since it is natural. :rotfl2::rotfl::rotfl2:

Would you at least state what you consider "toxic sugar" to be?

HFCS?

other corn syrup?

beet sugar?

cane sugar?

honey?

agave?

fruit juices?

molasses?

That is not the same thing as removing all sugar from your diet?

Well carrots would be root vegetables too. So, which root veggies do you eat? Turnips and onions?

2 things:

1. I agree that "natural" or being a plant does not in and of itself make something safe or healthy. That does not mean I agree that sugar is toxic.

2. Once again, YOU brought this up, YOU are the one making claims, therefor the onus is on you to back up your claims with facts. Again, refusing to do so just makes it look like you have no facts to share--if you did and you truly wanted to expose sugar for the toxin you believe it to be and stop this issue in the US, you should be happy to share what you know to help others see the light.

The problem is that you lack the ability to do proper research and evaluate credible information sources. That's why people are asking you for links. A google search will no doubt pull up thousands of links to sources like mercola.com, natural news, or infowars. What it won't do is pull up links to original, peer reviewed studies, which is what people are asking for.

I'll believe this is a real issue when Michelle O starts an anti-sugar hash tag campaign. Besides with the upcoming climate change end of the world scenario who cares what we eat today???

Sorry but I am not your researcher. The links can be found as well as the proof, it is out there!

So then you really don't want to support your view? That speaks volumes.

Just what was your contention when posting this thread? If you were trying to win people over to your thinking, not providing any proof is a pretty ineffective way of doing that.

Got to see the documentary "Fed-Up" last night about the effects of toxic sugar on our society. It is so great and an eye-opener. I hope someone has the guts to go after industry the way they did after big tobacco!

This part alone cracks me up. Does every industry, every company need "going after"?

If a product contains sugar in any of its forms, it will be on the label. Period. That's not to say it'll just have "SUGAR!!!" listed, so that any dim bulb can easily spot it -- you might have to recognize it by a different name. But have we become so dependent on others thinking for us (e.g., endless agenda-based documentaries,) that we are no longer free-thinking, choice-making grownups who are capable of reading a label and taking the initiative to look up an ingredient we're not familiar with? :confused3

I was wondering that too.

Apparently we all need to be protected from ourselves.

To let people know about this amazing eye-opening movie. By the way, all of the peer-reviewed data are available online, I won't be anyone's search engine.

From my original postie

Most people were not aware of the film as it is in limited release at the moment.

You call it a documentary, I call it propaganda.
