Gwyneth Paltrow says sugar is poison and doesn't allow her family to eat refined carbs or sugar...I don't need any more proof than that ;)

You know, now that you mention it, I've been wanting to go from a size 2 to a size negative 4. I think I'll give Gwyneth a call.

Hey, it worked for Patricia on Carousel of Progress, right? :thumbsup2

This ain't a trial, but I crack up at all of the Clarence Darrow wannabes on this thread. I will just wait and talk with folks who have actually seen the film about the effects of toxic added sugar.

You do not have to completely give up sugar or even processed food in order to lose weight and be healthier. You just have to watch the amount you eat.

There is absolutely no way I could give up sugar or chocolate completely since I have a major sweet tooth; and there a days when I would kill someone for a burger and fries from the drive through. However, for the last year and a half I have watched my portion sizes with Weight Watchers and increased my activity. Over that time period I have lost 70 pounds and gone from a size 20 to a size 12. My blood work improved so much my Doctor was actually giddy when she came in the room to talk to me about the results.

It was not easy and the money I spent at the grocery store did go up quite a bit; However, the money I saved from not stopping at the drive through multiple times through out the week pretty much evens it out in the end.

Actually, I disagree. For mu body and its reactions to gluten and sugar, I did need to give it all up, unless I wanted to enjoy cramping, bloating and discomfort. However, I do eat hamburger once a week-protein style/lettuce wrapped! LOVE IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

:thumbsup2 And the rest of us can have an intelligent conversation, based on actual silence, while you wait.

I find myself reading this thread and singing "just a spoonful of sugar..."

I blame Mary Poppins for this epidemic.

Got to see the documentary "Fed-Up" last night about the effects of toxic sugar on our society. It is so great and an eye-opener. I hope someone has the guts to go after industry the way they did after big tobacco!

Good luck with that. Restricting your conversation to only those who have seen a brand new, limited release niche film that is playing in <40 theatres nationwide should make for a very short discussion. Even if I was inclined to see this film in the theatre - something I almost never do for documentaries - the closest showing to me is in another country, 3+ hours' drive from my home.

Funny you should mention that. The consumption of sugar is up 50% since PL Travers was born.

50 percent of the the good poison that is added sugar we consume today comes from HFCS in fat-free foods like salad dressings and regular soft drinks.

Wow the OP sure has her certain buzzwords she likes to use: TOXIC SUGAR! POISON! TOXIC! TOXIC SUGAR! POISONOUS TOXIC SUGAR!!

Do you think if your repeat it enough times that will help anything or anyone? Because newsflash: Sugar is not toxic. Sugar is not poison. There.

Also I think you are wrong in saying all we have to do is watch this specific pet documentary of yours and we will then be enlightened. I have a sister in law like this, if your opinion is different than hers it is only because you are obviously not educated enough on the subject. :rotfl:
