Fed Ex delivery from DVC !?!!?

Yes I was glad to get it. I also found it odd that the package was shipped via Fed Ex. Maybe they had some marketing money to spend before year-end.

Which got me thinking, does DVC release financials about the spending of the operating costs funded by its members?

Haven't received it yet, but just a thought re FedEx.

Is it possible DVC has worked out a contract deal with FedEX making the FedEx rate cheaper than using USPS.?

Just a thought.

I'm sure of it. I work for a medium-smallish company and we ship through FedEx. When my sister lived out of state, I found it was cheaper (and quicker) to send a package to her via FedEx 3rd day than through the USPS. Now, I'm sure DVD ships way more than the company I work for and thus, their rates are even less.

I was very excited to be getting a box from DVC and opened it right away. Then I read everything in it to make sure I wasn't missing something...

I guess in terms of marketing they did a good job!

Too bad the same can't be said for their environmental impact. :(

pkg came from georgia (duluth I believe?), did have my guide's correct name...nice presentation but, what exactly are you supposed to do with it?

got mine yesterday too. i thought, maybe a tree ornament or video. the postcards are nice, but i'd certainly rather have them be of dvc rather than other destinations.

We got our FedEx delivery yesterday. It was neat, but we'll probably only use the WDW postcards. I took everything out of the box and my daughter is going to use it as a 'keepsake box'. She already put it up on her shelf in her room...

Mine was just delievered. I didn't hear them at the door but heard the truck. When I peeked outside and saw the fedex truck going down the street I knew what I had!
They are very nice. Wish I had somebody to send them to. I really like the box!

I'm with the frugal ones, I guess.

Lately, it seems we've been bombarded with "gifts" from DVC -- the 15th Anniversary giclee, and the postcards (POSTCARDS!!!) sent via Fed Ex. Why on earth would you want to send a bunch of postcards via Fed Ex is beyond me . . . since we didn't want them and probably won't use them. Same for the giclee . . . I have no idea what we would do with it. :confused3

DVC, can't you save the tens of thousands you must have spent on these last two "gifts", and used the money for, say, lowering our annual fees? Special park admission rate? Or even adding a few DVC perks around the parks (ie. dining, etc) would be nice.

We got ours today. Didn't have to sign for it. The box is very pretty and the postcards are nice. It does seem a bit overkill for just postcards though. Oh well, I really like the box. ;)

Got ours today, too! The postcards are beautiful, but I have to agree with the posters who said they would rather have them of all the DVC resorts instead. Chances of many of us going to London or Africa to mail them to family and friends isn't too high, I'm guessing! :flower:

I thought this was absolutely silly!!!

:confused3

Note to self:

Buy Fedex stock. DVC will then pay me. Cha-ching!

I hate this post. After reading about the Fed-Ex deliveries I trudged all the way downstairs, opened the front door and checked the front porch out. Did I mention that it's freeeeeezing here? (literally!) And what do I get for my trouble? Nada. This is just like the Glicee print all over again! Or maybe my FedEx guy is boycotting me---he had to deliver a heavy fountain for the garden a few days ago.

As for the secret message---the Force is definitely behind CRV.

I agree that shipping via Fedex does seem expensive. I thought about it for a while & realized that the money would come from the developer's budget, not our dues. But if they have that kind of money to send us 2 items in such a short time maybe they shouldn't keep raising the cost per point to buy in since they obviously have plenty of money to burn.

I would rather have received some info about AKV since they have already announced it to the public. The least they could do is officially notify the "owners".

I received mine yesterday. The box is nice and it was a fun suprise.

We got our yesterday too. I thought it was funny I was one of the first to receive the postcards yet one of the last to receive the gilcee. Anyway I was very excited to unwrapping the "gift" thinking about what it could be inside. The box was so very nice. I was a little let down with the postcards. It seemed from the packaging it was going to be a DVD, CD, ornament etc. Anyway the kids enjoyed the postcards and put them to good use with each writing and mailing a postcard to the grandparents. However they only wanted to use the "Disney" themed postcards which I don't blame them. They and I would have enjoyed more WDW postcards. Pictures of all the DVC resorts as someone else posted would have been great. The box is nice for the kids to keep pens and stationary. But I'm glad to hear this does not come out or our dues.

I like the little DVC treats. I makes me feel that members are magical.

I got mine today (I did not read this thread until now so I had no idea.)

It is cute, I am going to let 5 year old DD keep special trinkets and treats in the box. :thumbsup2

I also received mine today and feel the same way. Sure, it could have been sent out in an envelope but it was fun receiving the package. :sunny: I am a sucker for Dsiney stuff. Heck, I keep napkins from the park and Tiki bird feathers that fall on the floor... :rotfl:

I'm not sharing the cute little box though! :rolleyes1

A related and possibly amusing story. I'm hoping to go to Australia next year and went ahead and got my passport. It was a "Murphy's Law" story from he start: incorrect info from the Post Office, the hunt for my birth certificate, ordering a copy of said certificate, more issues at the Post Office.... finally.... FINALLY 15 weeks after submitting all the paper work I get my passport and.....they spelt my middle and last names wrong :lmao:

I only screamed once and to an empty house :teeth: Sent back the passport and the new form and amazingly got back a new passport in eight day. The Deparment of Passports (or whatever they're called) a branch of the Federal Government, sister to the Post Office sent me my passport via FedEx :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl2:

<chorkle> It just struck me as funny that even the government uses FedEx instead of USPS.

Hope you all enjoy the postcards!
