How is February in Florida? We may be planning a trip around the third week (when my DD and I ) have the week off from school. Is it too cold then? TIA

Lived my whole life in Fl except for college. Tempatures can range from the low 20's at night to the 80's during the day. Normal range is 40 - 50's at night to 60 - 70's during the day.
You will want to have a coat/jacket for evenings and the early mornings at least. Wear layers so that as it warms up during your time in the parks, you can remove some and feel comfortable.

I have been to WDW in early Feb twice. Both times we had warm days in shorts with swimming and cold days in winter jackets :confused3.

FYI on our last trip this past Feb I watched the weather channel for the days before and during our trip. It was wrong on a daily basis.

If I were packing for Jan/Feb again I would pack for either extreme. I would also pack some hats and gloves just in case.

Please pack cold weather clothes. We FROZE last February and we had our winter coats from Minnesota! Last year was unusually cold but in any event there is something about Florida cold that just chills you to the bone. Hopefully you will be wearing shorts but be prepared for anything.

We stayed for a week in February '09. Most of the mornings and evenings were brisk where you definately needed some long pants and a jacket. By afternoon though you could be in shorts. Dressing in layers is probably the way to go. One of the the days was even warm enough for swimming in the afternoon which was nice.

One word of advice when visiting the Animal Kingdom - keep in mind that most of the park is shaded and if you are there in the morning it most likely will be cold so dress accordingly.

Our family went during the month of February for three straight years. (Loved going that time of year, by the way!) One year it was a heat wave - as in don't wear any make-up because you would sweat it off by 10:00 a.m. kind of heat wave. One year there was a cold snap - the kind where you need hats, gloves, and scarves and some of the fast pass machines wouldn't work. Another year it was gorgeous - light jackets in the mornings, shorts and tank tops by the afternoon. You just never know what you're going to get in February - but we had a great time EVERY year, regardless of the weather.

For the record - we swam all three of those years - even during the cold snap! Thank goodness Disney heats their pools. :-)

I bring a swimsuit, but realize I might not use it. And bring one pair of shorts/capris and a pair jeans and layers to go with everything, including a windbreaker and a fleece jacket. And if the weather has been cold at night before you come, I bring a hat and light gloves too. All that humidity and cold weather just chills you to the bone.

Hope you hit great weather.

We stayed 5 days last Feb. It was cooler than we had hoped, but like a PP, I had watched the weather and packed accordingly. I also had friends that were already there telling me it was cool. I think the highest it got was @ 68. It didn't stop the 10 yo cousins from using the pool - they were well watched, I think there were only 6 people in the CS main pool and 3 lifeguards who looked like they were wearing ski parkas!

Those cheap, stretchy gloves came in handy and I also had fleece headbands. These were small and I could easily stick them in my coat pockets when we headed inside. I even packed hand warmers - made our coat pockets toasty - esp. for nighttime!

Unrelated to your question @ weather: it was crowded last year - Fat Tuesday/Mardi Gras fell during this week. There were also the cheerleading competitions and I think most of the NE schools have this vacation week.

Crowds and weather didn't keep us from having fun - I'm ready to go back.

Let me expand upon my first response:

We stayed 5 days last Feb Feb. wasn't MY first choice, that was my SIL's (my choice was April, but that was too hot and too far away (this trip was a joint Christmas gift to my nieces and our DD's.. It was cooler than we had hoped, but like a PP, I had watched the weather and packed accordingly fall & winter coats, jeans, turtlenecks and token warm weather clothes I also had friends that were already there telling me it was cool. How important are the water rides? Isn't Splash Mountain usually closed in Feb? It was for us and the kids were disappointed. It may be too cold to enjoy the water rides that are open (Kali River had little to no line when we were there)

We had a good time, but I would have preferred April. Here in RI our schools have a Feb and April vacation. But in 2011 Easter falls during our April vacation week so there's no way I'd visit WDW then.

I found it freezing in February and I'm from Pittsburgh but I was told it is not the norm (what we experienced in Feb 2010) and that it's not normally AS cold. It was bearable but i wore my winter coat the whole time and had to be in the room by 8p because it got so cold.

You must have been there when we were there. We did Sunrise Safari at AKL and they gave us blankets to wrap ourselves over our winter coats and we were still not really warm! We also skipped nights in the parks.

February can be a real crap shoot in Orlando...but im hoping for the best February to ever be recorded for 2011....

Good luck with the February weather!!!
We have done the Dayton 500 3 times and have had 3 different experiences with weather each time. The first time it was COLD Saturday and we got fried in the sun on Sunday. The ND time was absolutely perfect, low W's the entire time. This past February was unbelievably COLD. Saturday the wind was coming off the ocean and the word COLD can't describe it. Sunday was great until the Pothole 500 started and the sun went down and the wind picked up.
We are from Chicago and we know a little something about wind off the lake, but I have never felt cold like we did this past February with that wind off the ocean.
Like I said......good luck with the weather in February. Pack a little of everything.

We went down in Feb of this year and froze our butts off. I thought it was cold, but the rest of my family thought it was nice. We are going for Feb. vacation 2011 and I hope it's warm. Good Luck!
