Sorry about the weather! I am right there with you. They are saying 8-16 inches for us tomorrow night into Thursday. If school is closed Thursday DS17's graduation pushes back a week which means we will not go to France with my parents. Sorta irritated about that.

Just checking in...after my (almost) complete no-spend week last week, I'm doing good at staying at or under my $70 allowance for this week so far, but that may change - I just sent my first email off to the Polish State Archives requesting a search of birth records for my Great Grandparents :cool1: (Considering it had to be written in Polish and I don't speak a LICK of Polish, that's a big accomplishment. :lmao: But thanks to the Internet, you can do all sorts of things these days, including find properly translated sentences for a letter to the Polish State Archives!! ) My understanding is that they charge $30-40/hour for a search, plus a ridiculous amount for a copy, so I may have a pretty hefty charge coming my way since I only have a village and year for my Great-Grandfather and it may take a fair amount of time to do the search. But I've been working on our family tree for about a year now, and this Polish branch always presented the biggest obstacle for me so I'm totally excited I've figured out enough stuff to submit a request!

I'm going to just track my total for each week, not each day, for the rest of the month.
Week of 2/9 - $24.76 Target (necessities only, no extra stuff) - $45+ of $70 allowance left

I spent money yesterday trying to get ready for my kids's Valentine's Day parties and my daughter's snack badge for Brownies. But now it's looking like they won't have school tomorrow, so no party. At least I mostly got stuff we regularly eat. I also did some gas deals at the grocery store and now have $1.70 off per gallon, up to 30 gallons. Makes the food I bought basically free after gas rewards.

Stay safe and warm everyone who is affected by the snow. I think we are getting two feet! There's over a foot out there already. Seriously, though, you can't go anywhere. I never thought I'd have 10 no-buy days already--it's only the 13th of February!

The good news: the Polish State Archives found the records I wanted without an extensive search. They just wanted about $5 to scan and send the copies.

The bad news: all of the fees to wire that $5 cost me $40 :rotfl2: (The only way the Archive will accept payment from overseas is to wire it directly into their account at the National Bank of Poland. All the cheaper wire options only allow you to send funds to an account with an individual's name on it, not a business/agency name on it.) Oh well, I'm TOTALLY excited they found something and compared to the cost of getting document copies in the US, the price really isn't that bad. Their email reply already gave me the first names of all of my 4 Great-Great-Grandparents along that line, something that had been previously lost to the ages!

Week of 2/9 - $24.76 Target (necessities only, no extra stuff), $45 documents from Polish State Archives - $0.24/$70 allowance left

Finishing out my week...went over but wouldn't have if I hadn't worked on the family tree this week. I'm good with it though - somethings are just more important in life and I can't wait to tell my mother what I learned this week about the family in our weekly phone call tomorrow :goodvibes

I track only non-bill, non-gas, non-grocery spending (all the spending covered by my normal $70 miscellaneous weekly allowance):

Week of 2/2 - $12.56 McDonalds - $12.56/$0 (was supposed to be my no-spend week)

Week of 2/9 - $24.76 Target, $45 documents from Polish State Archives, $15.62 Chipotle Take out for Vday (my gift to myself LOL) - $85.38/$70

While I've been over budget both weeks, I was under budget in some other categories, so I've actually moved an extra $50 into savings so far this month (over my normal budgetted savings amount). So I'm good with where I am.

Here's to a strong week #3!!!!

I'm in for the rest of the month with exclusions of a prescription that I need to pick up tomorrow!

Having a lazy day at home. My work schedule has changed and I am now working Monday to Friday with weekends off. I work in retail so that is a pretty sweet schedule.
