I had decided on February as it coincides with my birthday but looked at price today for May 2011 and with the 10% discount it is only £114 more than February. :cool1: This means the waterparks would be available and it would be more of a sun holiday. :cool2: I am liking the idea of that. It also means I wont be paying balance just before Christmas :thumbsup2 As the only earner this is definately a consideration. Either way will mean taking my daughter out of school for one week but Easter is the only other option which was coming out above a grand more. I don't like doing this and haven't yet but will turn it into a learning experience. She is only in Year 1 now, will be Year 2 then so at this age it isn't vital. She loves learning anyway so we can take worksheets etc - I might create my own disney versions. ;)

So given the choice - Feb or May - which would you go for?

As we went last Feb half term and it was freeeezzzing, I'd go for May. Last Feb also co-incided with President's Day, lots of New Orleans Saints fans in Orlando after the Superbowl and avoiding Mardi Gras, so the parks were crowded.

Mind you Typhoon Lagoon was pretty empty!

I think the weather will be better in May, it can be more unpredictable in February. In Feb it is presidents week and May it is memorial week so both weeks will probably busy.

It is amazing how much children learn at Disney, my Daughter was amazed to learn that Canada had French as a language

May, if I had a penny for every time I have said the weather is too unpredictable or on the cool side in February I would have about 76p. :)

100% May, Been twice at Easter and had mixed weather so would never do Feb. Hoping this Easter is a warm one. Last May was great.

The only thing I would add is that if your daughter will be in Year 2 then she will have her SATS in May.

At the school my daughters go to they allow 10 days approved leave but ask that parents avoid May.

Just something to think about :confused3

I priced up 26th May to fly out which is the Thursday before Spring Bank week so we should be ok. I am going to school for a parents session on Friday so I will ask the question. It does means that we will be in to June whilst there so I hope it wont be too hot. :cool2:

I like Feb time, we have been a few times at this time of year. We went in May too last year and the weather was awful, really humid and the rain was unreal....that was for 10 days constant

That is why we didn't go in May this year (though I realise it is unusual to have as much rain as last year). It was cold in Feb, but it was sunny virtually every day, which made it quite pleasant apart from when standing in line waiting for the parks to open.

I had forgetten the rain last May, we got nice weather thru the day until late afternoon then it poured down into the evenings. Would still rather have May weather than Feb but weather varies every year.

We have been in both Feb and May and would choose May.
Feb was too cold - although in all fairness it was only normally cold in the morning and evenings, but I think the main reason for me is the psychological aspect. If we go in Feb then when we come back we still have almost all of the year still to go with no holiday to look forward to, whereas May is more in the middle of the year.

It's difficult to guarantee nice weather whenever you go, but I still think May overall is a better option.
You can get many variations of weather in February, including rain. However, it won't be cold in May which it certainly could be earlier in the year in February.

Thanks for all your responses. I think I am going to go for May as the water parks should be an option which they almost definately wont be in February. I am looking at the Regal Sun Resort in LBV or the Lake Buena Vista Resport Village and Spa although there are a number of other options to consider. :thumbsup2

I must say crowd levels in May were fine I thought it would have been very busy. Star wars weekends were brill too:)

:lmao: Exactly 76p? ;)

I would not consider Feb. DD's birthday is that month and has asked several times. HOnestly, unpredictable or not, I would rather it rains in May with a bit of heat than feeling cool. Especially after the winter we've just had.

I would double check with the school before you book it as they wouldn't let me take my DS out when he was in Year 2 due to the Sats. We wanted the last week of term before Whitsun, as my husband has set holidays. We are going next May and taking my DS out of school for a week. This week is Art week for the children not doing Sats so he won't be missing much, but we will still have to pay a fine because our school have stopped holidays in term time. It will be worth it though :)
