The blurb for CoP says "seasonal", but it seems to always be open. On the other hand, it generally opens some time after the rest of the park and closes by sundown (or around 5 - 6 pm, whichever comes first)
They are being pretty quiet about this. It seemed a few years ago that CoP was on it's way out. There was a lot of uproar about it and maybe that prompted it's revival but for the time being it has been open continuously. They installed new (expensive) monitors outside and I heard that they were either doing or planning some extensive interior uplifts.
CoP may not be the most exciting attraction on the planet but it is fun and a classic and there should always be room for a classic. Hopefully they won't change it into what it became at Disneyland.
I always go to it whenever I can because it holds many memories for me, not the least of which is either of the two theme songs. Great Big Beautiful Tomorrow (historically and currently being used) and Now is the Best Time (used when it was first moved to WDW). I love them both and they both hold wonderful memories.
COP is my DH's favorite MK attraction. It has never been open when we go in September, but it was open last year in February. So, he's hoping it will be open when we go in a couple weeks.
