February 9, 2012 3 Night Bahamian Dream Cruise

Made my reservations for the Park n Ride near the terminal. :surfweb: This is new for us because we have either parked at the terminal or had someone drop us off. :goodvibes I hope that this works out well because it is a very good price for this service.

I look forward to hearing how this works out for you. I did not enjoy the change in the ports policy, which was a surprise after our last cruise, that now charges for actual days in the lot versus 24 hour periods.

Hi! I just booked this quickie cruise for DS (10) and I after seeing some excellent flight deals from Toronto. :thumbsup2 We're bracketing a DVC day on either side of the cruise so we can go to MK and Epcot and then experience the Dream in the middle - woot, an awesome Disney sandwich. :cool1: We have cruised the Magic and Wonder but have never been on the newer ship(s). I basically have nothing booked because work has been so crazy, so we will be cruising by the seat of our pant this time (which is odd for me as I am usually super-type-A). I am going to surprise DS with this trip so that should be a hoot. I would love to meet some folks as I am all alone w/ DS this time (DH cant get time off work) and I am sure he would love to meet some other boys around his age. If you decide on a quick meet and greet count me in.

Welcome Aboard! :thumbsup2

I hope that we do have a "mini-meet" on the ship and take time for a photo op. :grouphug: I have several from past cruises and it is a great reminder of the cruise.

You have taken 18 eligible cruises.
:)

Hi, We are Peter & Jenn
Just booked this, cause we had so much fun in December.

This will be our 4th cruise on the Dream.
We love it!
Last time on board we had the RPP Dining rotation.
Remy Palo Palo :worship:

Will be honest, it is a huge ship and we did not get to see the whole thing on our first time on board.

We have been a lot of places with DCL, they change or add a route we usually check it out.

Any questions fire away,

we ended up in a inside room with a Magic porthole, December they gave us a cat 4A, Nice room.

Is there a Meet Scheduled ?

We rent a car and drive from our dvc resort, to Port then drive back to our Dvc resort after the cruise.

The meet has not been scheduled yet. :confused3 We've done it a number of ways but the best way that I like is sometime the next day. :laundy: That way we are at least settled (a little :rolleyes1)

We are planning a very similar trip - ssr before and bcv after. I decided to rent a car because I like having control over when we arrive at Port etc. Will you park in the lot at the port? Is that fairly easy? I think the check-in is open at 10:30am - is that right? I am thinking of upgrading at the port so want to get there early. Is the parking open early in the day (I would think so)? Anyone have a coupon for parking at the port? TIA and sorry for so many questions! :scared1:

Parking at the port is very easy, but there are no coupons :sad2: We have parked there for our last 3 cruises.

For the Magic in Oct., the parking lot opened at 10am and we were able to go into the port in 10:30am. We were like the 3rd family in. However, it has been reported on the main cruise boards that the parking lot doesn't open until 10:45am and the port at 11am for the Dream, and that they stick to those times.

We're using Park N Cruise for $5.99 per day. They have a shuttle service to and from the port which is about 5 minutes away across the bridge, :thumbsup2

Park n Cruise is great although I will caution to get there early depending on how many ships will be in port. On our cruise in August we used park n cruise and it was great. The only thing was since there were three ships in port there was quite a line to get everything done. We arrived to park n cruise about 10:45AM. We didn't leave on a shuttle to the port until almost 11:30AM because of all the people there. Once you pay the fee & park your car its very quick and easy.

Thanks for the info. :thumbsup2

My plans were to get there early but I may have to wait on the rest of my family! :confused3 :headache: Maybe if I tell them this then they will be ready to go early.

The weatherman here in the Tampa Bay area said that it could be 80 degrees for a couple of days before "cooling" off to the lower 70's. :goodvibes

Our family in Ohio always to trade weathermen with us here in Tampa - no thank you! :lmao:

Really looking forward to this trip! Freezing rain/sleet here today - hoping for 70s/80s in FL and onboard. :thumbsup2 DS is still in the dark about the trip. Should be a blast surprising him, if I can keep it in that long!

Well I went thru our "summer totes" of clothes, and picked out some things.Waiting to pack when I have a better idea about weather. Thanks for the Flordia reports, keep them coming.Trying to pack light?!Enjoyed reading some ideas on what to pack have about 40 so far wrote down(not including clothes).Liked the idea of shoe organizer over door.I'm actually hanging one over my door and am going to start filling it:rotfl: Not for sure how much I'll actually take, but like the idea of having a visual of everything.Really getting excited:banana:

There seem to be a lot of cruise veterans here- so if you have any insight I would love to hear from you.
I need packing help. It looks like during our visit, Orlando is going to have daytime temperature highs ranging from 60 to the low 80's; Some evenings have a low in the 40's. So, how do I pack for such a broad spectrum of weather, plus fit in the cruise stuff (FE gifts, Pirate Gear, Dressy night clothes, etc) without taking a ton of bags. Right now it seems like we will have a suit case for each person and another suitcase with all the extra cruise stuff- that is SIX bags and seems outrageous to me!
We will be in the Cabins at FW for 5 days before the cruise and then back at Beach Club for 2 days after-my kids are young and very messy, they often go through two outfits a day at home. I am not opposed to doing a load of laundry or two- I do not want to spend my vacation in the laundry room. Suggestions?

Alot of posts that I have read on "packing" say that overpacking is something we all have a problem with!?I would not pack many pjs, because they will not get that dirty. As far as weather hooded zip jackets easy on easy off.Let them rewear clothes if not that dirty(I know its hard with kids). As long as they have fresh socks and undies thats the most important:thumbsup2.You can always do some shopping if needed?? Goodluck :laundy:
